News at Commons

Paul Browning fished Commons Lake with his Dad and his brothers as part of his birthday pressie. He wanted to break his PB and bank a 40 for his 40th... well he did better than that!

His first fish out was a new PB at 37lb 10oz and subsequently during a very busy week, Paul went on to smash his PB again and get his first 40 with a 41lb 12oz common.

Not content with that, Paul went on to break his PB for the third time with a 44lb 6oz mirror.

We've just had news that the first anglers at Commons this year have banked five 40lb+ commons, including a lake record 49lb 4oz. Ian Penny and Ian Dwane have reminded us why this venue is called 'Commons'. With a haul of well over 50 carp, the catch includes about 30 X 30lb carp with lots more nice commons amongst them. Plus 20 odd 20lb carp with just 3 under 25lb.

We knew that the Bigots had worked their magic with the fish stocks during the winter but we weren’t sure if the anglers had picked up on this. Well the secret is well and truly out of the bag now. Looks like you could be in for a real treat if you are booked to go to Commons this year!

New lake record common at 49lb 4oz

Michel Bigot has arranged with the local baker in Mire to visit Margot, Morgane, Commons and Lords every morning with fresh bread, cakes, croissant etc.  Anglers will also be able to order Pizzas for collection in the evening at the bakery in Mire.

Back in December we filmed Commons being netted and we left when it got too dark to continue filming.  Later that evening these two stunning linears came out of the net together and Michel Bigot took these snaps and has just sent them to us.

The linear above weighs 41lb and is one of 12 different 40′s recorded at Commons.

You can see the full list of every fish in the lake in the previous article but we reckon this fish is a great one for anglers to go after.

What a magnificent carp!	Double trouble!

Commons was recently netted to remove small nuisance species & in the process all the carp were weighed, recorded & returned.  

To further improve this already prolific lake another 22 x 30lb+ carp were then stocked from the fish farm.
