This was a second trip to Laroussi in France, in our opinion, one of the best lakes available. After a not too productive trip in November 2008 due to poor weather, we were not put off simply because of the massive potential this lake holds for a specimen of carp, cat and sturgeon angles alike.

After a warm welcome from the owner Mr Daho my friends (Alexandre LEVOIR and Henri STERCKS) and I entered the venue. What a magnificent lake - prettily wooded with a wooden chalet next to the car park housing the toilet block with hot shower, fridge etc all immaculately clean, and with a large number of photos on the walls of anglers holding their magnificent trophies from lake.

It was a telephone call from Jean-Noel Grosbois, one of my colleagues that persuaded me to head for his home department – the Sarthe. Objective: to be the first to wet a line in an old gravel pit, until now closed to the public. The venue was soon to open its doors as a day ticket fishery.
