Dear angler,
Thank you for booking your trip to France with Clearview Carp Tours. I assure you that we’ll do everything we can to make this the best fishing trip you’ve ever had! The information contained in this pack should answer most of your questions but if you have any others please don’t hesitate to call - 07800 584194.
PICK UP POINT AND TIME
Pick-up: Relyon car park, Dover, Saturday at 02.00hrs (please arrive by 01:30)
Return: Saturday 17.00hrs (can be subject to delays on the ferry)
Please be packed up and ready to leave the lake by 10:30 on the day of departure.
LUGGAGE ALLOWANCES
Please do not exceed your luggage & bait allowances as excess baggage will have to remain in your car at Dover!
These are guidelines so you don’t bring the kitchen sink! Luggage you’re allowed to take:
- Rod holdall
- Rucksack full of whatever you want
- Bivvy
- Carryall full of whatever you want
- Sleeping bag
- Bedchair
- Unhooking mat
- Bait boat
- Small bag for food and drink on minibus
There is no weight limit on your luggage but it must fit into the above list. Sorry, no exceptions can be made as it causes problems with other anglers.
Please note; bait buckets/cool boxes and large sacks of bait are not allowed. Anglers bringing their own bait must put it in their luggage.
HOW THE TRIPS RUN
MEETING POINT
The meeting point is at the Relyon car park in Dover. Relyon have organised an account for us so you get discounted parking rates - see bottom of this document for details. Once all the cars are parked and your tackle loaded into the trailer, it’s off to the ferry. Once on-board you'll have plenty of time to look around, have a meal and browse in the shops.
THE JOURNEY
The ferry crossing takes around 1½ hours. There are several restaurants and bars for you to use but please don’t consume large amounts of alcohol because it will make your journey to the lakes very unpleasant. On arrival at Calais it’s just a quick glance at the passports and off we go! It takes about 2½ to 3 hours to drive to the lake so time to have a nap or just take in the scenery. There will be a stop along the way... but as I know what carp anglers are like - eager to get their lines out - it will only be a short one. Please note: all the items we sell at the lake are priced in £’s so you don’t need Euros. However, if you want to buy something from the French service station on the journey stop you will need Euros.
AT THE LAKES
At the lakes we’ll be met by the bailiff and you can have a quick look around. When you come back it’s time for a cuppa and the draw for swims if required - sometimes everyone agrees without a draw. If there are anglers who would like to fish together in a double swim that’s not a problem. All swims produce fish, so don’t get worried that you are not going to catch! If for any reason you are not catching we’ll try to move you into another swim. We’ll always do our best to help you catch – we don’t want anyone to have a blank session. We like to treat everyone on a personal basis so if there is anything you’re not happy with please tell us. If you’ve pre-ordered bait that will be handed out and off you go to get set up!
MEALS
Breakfast and evening meals are included - they can be brought to your swim or you can come to the dining area, whichever you prefer. When you fancy a cuppa just go to the kitchen and there will always be hot water. There is a lunch and dessert menu, so if you fancy a snack, or just a Mars Bar, they’re always available to buy.
SERVICES
There is a shower and toilet block on the complex, so there’s no need to be slimy all week! You can get fresh water from two places - at the kitchen or by the toilets (so you can make me a cuppa when I come round to see how you are getting on!). We are there 24 hours a day to give you help and advice if you want it. For people who bring bait boats we can charge them for you at no extra cost.
BAIT
Particles are prepared on a daily basis at discounted prices. We normally do Hemp, Maize, Tiger Nuts and Party Blend. If you are going to use particle please ensure it is purchased from us. This is for the carp’s safety... thank you for your understanding. All pre-ordered particles, boilies and pellets can be collected from the bailiff on arrival. You'll find details on how to order bait on the bait information sheet.
TIME TO GO HOME
After a hectic week’s fishing the day to go home is the worst thing in the world! You have to pack up your tackle and say goodbye to the fishery and friends you have met along the way. Once back at Dover it’s time to say goodbye. I hope you will have enjoyed the week with Clearview Carp Tours and it will have given you a taste of French fishing at its best and hopefully make you want to come back in the future!
We look forward to meeting you!
Best Regards, Roy Fulton, Owner, Clearview Carp Tours
