Overview
Tom’s lake is an ideal venue for a fishing and family holiday. It is an all action venue situated in the idyllic, peaceful countryside of northern France. Apart from the occasional tractor the only sounds will be from the abundant and varied wildlife. It’s just 2½ hours from the Caen ferry.
There’s a big head of carp averaging 18 to 22lb and the action is usually fast and furious. For example Richard and Thomas Broadbent fished here in June 2011. Here’s what they had to say;
“Had a fantastic week and the fishing was frantic! Overall we caught 42 carp, the highlights being a 26lb mirror and 25lb common. We had 7 carp over 20lb and 14 carp over 15lb with many just under 20lb. An excellent action venue - you will catch plenty of carp in excellent condition.”
The Carp Lake
The lake is approximately 4 acres in size, snag free (apart from lilies and bankside vegetation) with a firm, clean clay bottom. Fishing is from one side which has extensive lawns and shady willow trees.
It is an easy cast to the far bank or island and you can walk around the lake to bait up. The central island is a good fish holding area as are the far margins.
The grounds are well kept and secure with extensive lawns and plenty of willows giving shade ideal for relaxing, fishing or sunbathing.
There are two single and 1 double purpose built swims, each covered in matting to preserve your bivvies.

The lake was drained in December 2008 and 200+ original carp were returned.
These are mirrors, commons & grassies, plus a 50lb + cat fish. There are no Poisson Chats.
The current stock averages 18 to 22lb, but with an intensive feeding programme now in place the average should be around the mid-twenties in 2012.

General;
Tom's Lake is an ideal setting for families to relax. The grounds are ideal for fishing, relaxing and sunbathing and there are numerous places of interest close by; Vitre with it’s cobbled streets, old ancient buildings and chateaux.
Laval is the largest town in the area with plenty of shops. The local markets are well worth a visit and are typically French, if you want to buy live crabs, chickens or clothes, household accessories or just wander round they are fascinating places.
There is a swimming lake within a 5 minute drive with crazy golf, beach and children’s play area. There’s also a local bar within walking distance and this serves up a fabulous lunch menu – 10 euros for a 4 course meal including wine.
The nearest supermarket is around 10 minutes away by car and has everything you need. Also in the local village there’s a baker that cooks his own bread which is to die for!

Meals
A great optional food package is available, cooked by a homely cook that hates to see people go hungry! This can be full English breakfast, evening meal or both.
Price... £100
Please note; if you book the food package you will be asked to pay a 10% deposit to Angling Lines and the balance to the lake in Euros when you arrive. Please note that due to fluctuations in the exchange rate the balance you pay when you arrive may not equate exactly to the remaining 90% in £’s sterling – it may be slightly more or less due to a change in the exchange rate.
Carp Bait
This venue sells carp pellet at 30€ for 25kg. This is the same pellet the fish are fed on throughout the year so it’s highly effective.
To order bait please contact the owner direct. The owners Email address & phone number can be found on the directions sheet which will be sent to you when your holiday has been paid for in full.
Please note; Bait orders are made directly between you and the lake owner. We (Angling Lines) cannot be held responsible for any problems that may subsequently arise. If you order bait to be waiting for you when you arrive we strongly recommend you telephone or Email the owner a few days before your arrival to make sure it will be there for you. In 99% of cases this will just be purely precautionary, but bait is such an important part of your holiday that it’s only sensible to take every step to avoid problems.
