 The Test Anglers Team

I've had a fascination with water for as long as I can remember and having a family home on the banks of a canal made it inevitable that I would one day become an angler. Whether it's catching big carp in France, pike in Sweden, catfish in Spain, blue cod in New Zealand or just Rudd on my local pond, I'm completely obsessed with angling and have always loved to combine it with travelling. I enjoy the challenge of going to far away places and catching some amazing fish, as well as making some special memories. I enjoy documenting my adventures in France through film and writing and I'm fortunate to be able to give the customers of Angling Lines a glimpse into some of the special waters they have.”

I have been involved in the carp scene since the early seventies, continuing to the present day. I have tried to keep away from the circuit waters, however I did spend around 8 years fishing the Mangrove and 4 years on Grenville. I presently have the pleasure of running my own UK carp fishery which contains some beautiful fish. My main object on this fishery is for carp welfare and keeping a natural stocking balance in the lakes. I have been field testing for Angling Lines since 2004, visiting numerous French venues on my travels.”

“All of my life I have had a fascination of water and the world that lives within. A world many never get to see or to be part of and this I find strange as I have always seen it as a totally fascinating place.  For as long as I can remember I kept fish, I had tanks everywhere, anything that would hold water would have a stickleback or two in it. Even my paddling pool was stocked with fish at one stage! Here I am many sunrises and sunsets later since I started my ‘targeting big fish’ career back in 1977 and so many incredible memories, many dreams become reality and hopefully many more still to come from both my home waters and those I have to cross the water to visit.”

I started carp fishing in 1982, before that did a bit of general course fishing including match fishing on rivers such as the Severn and Warwickshire Avon. I had a few years in the nineties concentrating on barbel, but during the last 15 years I have nearly exclusively fished for carp. I have fished a variety of waters in both England and France from small secluded waters to 200 acre gravel pits, catching from all the waters I have targeted.”

Ron KeyRon Key
“I am often best described as a compulsive angler. Fishing since the age of four, I fished for ‘Tommy’ Ruffe on his local brick ponds and I’ll still fish for anything anywhere. I started carp fishing in the late seventies after moving to the Midlands and developed and ran my own carp fishery for many years.  My life as a travelling carp angler started in the eighties at the legendary Longfield and the southern Leisure Sport waters. Nowadays in the UK I fish closer to home and love fishing large windswept gravel pits.

A chance meeting with one of the early pioneers started my passion for French fishing, concentrating mainly on the huge French lakes and rivers. I still fish regularly in France mainly as a consultant for Angling Lines and I am a long term field tester for Quest Baits. I have been involved in the running of the British Carp Study Group for over ten years, having carried out most jobs in the group and I am the current Chairman. I also edits the group’s magazine ‘The Carp’.”

The end result is that we have a pretty good idea of what makes a good fishing venue and what doesn't, both for the independent angler and those who want to take along the family. With this experience we aim to offer an unrivalled service to our customers.

We give an honest appraisal of all our venues, including fish stocks and facilities, and ensure that our high standards are maintained through site visits.  We listen carefully to all feedback, using it to further improve our service.
