We will be filming at Gigantica during the period 23 April to 27 May 2011. I can tell you now that the swims that will be reserved will be The Tree Line and The Beech. I feel it best to explain what we are reserving the swims for.

We are filming the next underwater film which can only be done in the Tree Line swim. The Beech is to be shut to stop people casting into the The Tree Line’s water and cutting the passage of the fish off, and to make sure they don’t hook up on the camera equipment which will be on the bottom of the lake.

We will be putting the cameras in the water on the morning of Saturday 23rd of April before the clients arrive, so there should be little or no disruption on the day.

We will then monitor the area for signs of fish for the first 24/48 hours. It is likely that it will take at least one week before the fish find the camera equipment ‘normal’ enough to visit the area with confidence. It may take several weeks, we have no way of knowing, this is why the area has been reserved for so long.

We will have someone at the lake watching the monitors in the bivvy for the entire time (days only of course). This person will not be fishing at night, they are there purely to keep an eye on the monitors. When the fish are regularly visiting the area we will get the call and be over to the lake within 24 hours. We will then film until we get the result that we want. This may take a week, it may take a month!

Once we get the result we want we will leave the lake and the swims will be opened again. It may be that we leave and come back within the dates above. This will only happen if the fish leave the area and we have the time to wait for them to return.

When we are filming we will be fishing in The Tree Line only, the Beech will stay closed so there is no interference from nearby anglers. We will not be fishing at night and we will not be fishing any other swims if the Tree Line has no fish in it. We will be bivvied up on the lake at night but we will not be taking up any other swims.

If anglers are worried about having a swim roped off, and that all the fish may congregate in that area they do not need to be. We have reserved such a long time because we are not confident the fish will spend any significant amount of time in that area. We hope to have 5-7 days during that 5 week period when the fish are in there and feeding well. The weather will play a huge part in this, this is something we have no control over so the anglers need not worry that our area will be the only area with fish in it. It is not known as a good night area anyway, this is why we have chosen it for the DVD because we can only film in the day.
