42.04 lake record common

Once again, the young anglers at Vaux are showing just how good they are. Following their successful start to the week of 3rd to 10th July, and despite the carp still spawning, Ben, Phill and Adam went on to land a total of 27 carp weighing in at a total of 646lbs 02oz which included 8 thirties;

Ben had 36lb 08oz and 32lb 08oz mirrors and 36lb 02oz and 30lb commons,

Phill (aged 18) a 33lb 08oz mirror

and Adam (also aged 18) a 30lb, 32lb 04oz and 30lb 02oz mirrors.

Between them, they also caught seven twenties, ranging from Phill’s 20lb koi to Ben’s 29lb 04oz mirror, plus three catfish, two to Ben at 35lb 08oz and 38lb and one to Phill at 32lb 08oz.

Unfortunately, during those first two days a good number of fish, maybe about ten, were lost due to weak hook lengths and bad knots, so they could possibly have banked far more.

But the icing on the cake was the 42lb 04oz unknown common which Ben landed early in the morning, just two days before heading for home – the lake record common. Very, very well done, Ben and Adam and Phill.
