Oakview‘s 46lb mirror
Our regulars will know already that Oakview gets netted at the end of each fishing season. Fry and small carp are removed and the larger carp are counted and given a visual health check before being returned to the lake. It’s at this point that we decide whether to order any new stock. This year we decided that Oakview anglers deserve the chance of landing a 40+…..
Here’s the results of the 2010 netting and stocking at Oakview:
OUT- went 250kg of carp fry. These went to the fish farm.
TRANSFERRED – were 26 of the prettiest mirrors and fast growing commons. These weighed an average of 3lb and are now in the stock pond.
IN – came a 46lb mirror and 5 other mirrors between 30lb and 32lb.
RESULT – For 2011 we are as confident as it’s possible to be when we say that a run at Oakview is almost certain to result in a decent 20, 30 or a 40lb+ carp on the bank.
