Bridget Gets Stuck in…Morgane & Commons updates
By Gareth Watkins
As you can see from the previous post I’ve been out and about visiting some of the venues over the last few days. I teamed up with Bridget at the Bigot’s venues for the stocking of a few new fish. You can see from the post below that we called in at Margot to see those fish introduced.
Also on the agenda was a visit to the Bigot’s two other waters Morgane and Commons. First off though we all met up at the fish farm to load up the trucks with carp. These carp were netted from one of the holding ponds. This was the first time that Bridget had actually attended a netting and stocking, and immediately got stuck in with helping to weigh and load the fish.
Other than the ten carp and two sturgeon destined for Margot there were six fish to be added to Commons lake. These fish weighed in between 24lb and 28lb. (Michel had already added a mid thirty common last week). Once the trucks were loaded first stop was Margot (see article below) and then on to Commons.
The first thing we noticed as we drove up the track was that it had recently been resurfaced with several truck loads of stone and gravel. On arrival at the lake we were able to look in on the work that was in progress to add a fishing platform and decking terrace to the front of the mobile home. The platform was done in the same style as those destined for Margot with railway sleepers backfilled with hardcore.
The truck containing the carp followed us up and the small batch of carp introduced to the lake. Michel informed us of his intention to add a further 30 or 40 carp before the end of the month to compliment the existing stocks from last year.
Final stop before we bid the Bigot’s farewell was at Morgane lakes. Here the mobile home had received some poor feedback due to the poor state of some of its interior. Well the owners have
taken to heart these comments and put right all the faults. These include a complete steam clean of all the interior surfaces, walls, ceiling and floors. New mattresses on the beds, a new gas cooker, new tap on the sink unit, and finally the re-upholstery of the sofas. These improvements should make for a more comfortable stay at the venue during 2009.

Hi All,
Just got a fax through from Michel & Laurent Bigot with information of the final stocking into Commons lake this week. This brings to total number of carp in the lake now to around 175 fish.
This weeks stocking consisted of 50 fish ranging in weight from 18lb-24lb for an average weight of 20lb 8oz.
This density of fish in a relatively small water, coupled with the improvements to the terrace area in front of the mobile home, should transform the venue for the coming season.
I would be very greatfull a freezer was added to the van in time for my trip,
kind regards
Reece………….
