I am going to Roseau to fish the large lake in March. I have never been fishing in France so I don’t know what to expect. Could someone give me some advice please? Also am driving there myself and have never driven in another country before. Thanks.

David replied;

Hi Michael, thanks for your question. I’ve asked Roy Fulton who controls the fishing at Roseau to give you some pointers but before he does can I suggest you take a look at our Forum. I’ve posted your question under the Roseau section here. There’s also a complete section dedicated to driving in France & you can find that here. Right over to Roy….

Hi Michael,

The best advice I can give for fishing Roseau is to keep things nice and simple, don’t over continue reading…

Dave Johnson asked:

How close is Lords Lake to Commons Lake?

Lords Lake is the first in a series of 4 lakes (the fourth one is Commons Lake).

From recollection I would say they are around 300m apart. The lakes are all on different levels and Lords and Commons Lake have their own entrances and so are totally seperate entities. Some new Photo’s have just gone onto the site showing the lake now brimming full! Can’t wait for the first feedbacks to come in as this should follow in the same vein as Morganes and Commons in terms of catches!

Cheers, Bridget

Andy asks;

How would we travel to some of your fishing hoildays if we dont drive?

Hi Andy,

If you are on your own or a small group the first place to look at is the Roseau lakes on the all inclusive trips (max 8 persons). Great fishing at a great price, Roy picks you up from Dover and takes you to the lake, this includes a full English breakfast and evening meal, fishing for the week and return trip. The cost is £495 per person and at least one or more week in each month is allocated for this type of trip. Bait is available at the lake as well as the restaurant is open all day. Roseau is only 2 hours from the Calais ferry port so it won’t be long before you are settled in fishing.

You can also fly to the following venues Beaute, Oakview, Alder & Notaires – all these owners will collect you from the closest airport and take you to the lake. They have tackle for hire when you get there you only need to take your end tackle and clothes etc. The other alternative is to hire Roy at Clearview with his driver, van and trailer (if required) to take your group to any of our lake fishing venues.

Do not hesitate to call for further info.

Hi,

The reason i haven’t booked a holiday with you is I’m wheelchair bound. I signed up to your newsletters hoping to find somewhere accessible.  If you could send me info on all the lakes that cater for disabled I’ll be more than happy to book a holiday. Been looking for 2 years and nothing in France seems suitable.

Thanks, Leon

Hi Leon,

We have 2 venues which may be able to help you;

Beaute is a small lake with a max 6 anglers.  The shower facilities are located in a mobile which has a ramp up to the door and the 2 bedrooms have been converted to large shower rooms (the showers have seats in them). Alex the owner is very helpful and lives on site he also has tackle and bait for sale. The side of the lake is reasonably level and the swims access would not be a problem for a wheelchair. If you didn’t want to bivvy up the shower mobile has a pull out double bed available and therefore is self contained.  At the other end of the shower block, there is a toilet, basin and shower which is normally reserved for use by ladies, but can also be used by other anglers if the shower block is being used by disabled anglers.

Vaux has a large house next to the lake, both front double doors open for access this takes you through the kitchen, just off the kitchen is the large lounge and also a downstairs bathroom. They are happy to provide a single bed in the spacious living room for a disabled angler (bed raised on Disabled Suppliers’ plastic cones) plus a second single bed for a companion if required. This still leaves plenty of room for the social area. So you do not have to bivvy if you do not wish to do so. This venue is sold as exclusive and the house sleeps up to 8 so if you have a large family they call all go.

Access around the lake is not a problem for someone in a wheelchair and two disabled anglers this year (2009) fished off the platform, as do the majority of our anglers.

Although the owners do not live on site, Chas comes in every day and will stay on site for as long as is required, especially if a disabled angler requires assistance.

Please check these venues on the web site both have photo’s of the facilities and accommodation, do not hesitate to call for further info.

Look forward to hearing from you.
Regards Linda

Paul wrote this question to Bridget;

My mate had us booked on Maison du lac Bleu but it’s been cancelled.  Do you know any good waters with big carp that still have some space? And would you know which lake the carp from Lac Bleu are going to?

Hi Paul

Yes, I heard at the Carp show last weekend that Maison du lac bleu has been sold and I was told the new owners are not opening it back up as a fishery. I heard the carp are being moved but all this is grapevine stuff, I have no idea where the fish are going but maybe someone reading this will know?

Sad really because I believe it was a great water and now you have to start again and find another lake but all is not lost unfortunately I don’t know your dates? but we still have some space on Gigantica and also a great option is the brand new Bigot lake called Sapphire lake. With 2010 being it’s first year there is availability for most of the season. the 20 acre lake for up to 10 anglers, stocked with over 400 carp including loads of 30’s, 40’s and 50’s with some topping over 60lb.

Margot also has a little space left and again has carp to over 70lb as does Laroussi (the lake record of 75.02oz came out the other week!) but as I say it depends on your number of anglers and dates you require. Give me a call I’m sure we can help.

Cheers, Bridget
