Personally I think it is fair to expect more than you get in the UK when coming to France on Holiday - otherwise why bother ?
I think anglers can reasonably expect to find ;

1. More space/less anglers
2. Waters that are more heavily stocked
3. Average size of fish much higher.

Yes you still have to fish well if you want to catch well !

As for pressured lakes, I would never book onto a pressured water in France - whats the point ? You spend all year fishing for pressured fish on crowded lakes in the UK, do you want to spend your one weeks holiday doing the same in France ?
If you book a big fish water like Rainbow, La Horre, etc then you will be fishing for extremely pressured carp in big waters and as Gareth says so rightly, don't expect too many takes. On the other hand if you are prepared to keep going back time and time again to these lakes, then eventually you will be in the right place at the right time and you will have a good catch.
My idea of French Carp Holiday Heaven is a quiet water, preferably with no other anglers present, a lake that has a good head of fish with a few carp over 40lbs present, and hard fighting fish that are in immaculate condition with perfect mouths. 3 or 4 fish a day (preferably all in the day and none at night) would be just perfect for me !

Wise words indeed Gareth - if only every carper planning on fishing in France would take this on board, our jobs would be much easier!
