Having fished sessions for carp since the early 80's, I can categorically state that there is no such thing as the perfect bivvy - not yet ! I have used everything from the 50" wavelock brolly on is own - because that was the best thing available at the time, then the first Nash nylon overwrap, then the canvas overwrap, dome tent bivvies, titans and pram hood style. Nearly all my bivvies have been NASH gear, I have had 5 different Titans, and I never had a problem with the tapes coming off. For me the main problem with the titan was bugs and mice etc., getting in, and condensation (even with the winterskin in winter). The stability and strength of the titan is superb, it will stand up to the worst of the UK weather - if you put it up right. I now have a new NASH Double Top professional with 3rd skin although I have not tried it out yet, it is a liitle on the small side with the inner capsule, but with that taken out and the heavy duty groundsheet in with the 3rd skin becoming the wnter overwrap I think it will be as good as if not better than the titan.
For week long sessions with the wife we use the Hutchy Enduro which is known as "the mother of all bivvies" - it is huge with loads of space in the inner tent, and a huge porch area in which two people can sit and cook comfortably, it has three doors at the front so that whichever way the wind is blowing, you can still have one door open for a rapid exit. There is also a door at the rear which can be opened in summer allowing a through flow of air which stops the bivvy turning into an oven ! The only problem with the Enduro is the physical size of it, which means that in windy weather it has to be well tied down, this is not a problem though as there are loads of guy rope pegging points.
