what you do for casting at night is during the day when you have cast out and the line clip is on tie some bright pole elastic( about size 5-10) and tie a sliding stop knot and poush it into the end ring then that way at night you can just walk up the bank with the rod until the pole elastic is in the top ring then you clip the line and jobs a good un your ready to cast

Cheers for the info mate... i'm just getting into pure carping really so there are some great tips in here.. i don't want to fork out to much for a rod though so i will use what i have lying around,, a ron thompson zensorflex 11 foot beach caster with a knackered ring(the insert fell out).. It only cost 20 quid new so no harm done... I have an old sea fixed spool reel that is full of spider 75lb braid that i never got on with so i'll give it a go(should be able to clip it up fine with no risk of it breaking--spider braid is is mega strong.

I know i won't be the most fashionable at the lakeside especially since the rod has a bright orange tip but i'm sure it will take the loaded spod. I'tll be fun trying... and then i can see if i can take to it.. Love the marker float tip rather than just aiming to cast where i think..

Easy if theres a feature you
can see but difficult to be accurate enough if theres not....

Oh another point.. How do you get on at night with the marker float ie spodding and hitting the same spot... do you have any tips or have you already spodded enough in for the session if your staying for a few days...what about casting at night???

I'm not experienced in this department at all so i apologise for my lack of knowledge with modern products!!

Thanks
Marc
