After moving the budgies across Brittany it was time to pick the chickens up and move them to their new home at Oakwood . The whole family was eagerly awaiting the arrival of the chickens as it was something we had thought we would like to do when we arrived in France some four years ago! The chickens were loaded up onto the van along with their house and I set off for home.

A temporary run was constructed and they were shut away for the night. What followed that evening was a barrage of ear bending from the Mrs of how they needed a large run that was secure and could keep foxes at bay!

The next morning saw me at the builder’s merchant buying all the relevant materials for the run! After 3 days banging in fence posts and digging a trench all the way round to lay the chicken wire in to stop unwanted guests digging into the run it was finally done and looking quite smart. They had their new 100m² run and we released them loose to explore.

They are already laying around 10 eggs a day and what could be better than freshly laid free range eggs in the morning!
