It’s hard to see how the fishing could be improved at the hugely popular Morgane Lakes but that didn’t stop Laurent Bigot giving his venue a makeover this winter.

The mobile home and its decking area has been completely replaced and renewed, so anglers can enjoy the same space and facilities as before but with the additional luxury of newness.

The carp lake has been de-silted and a small bay has been cut into the right-hand bank for added interest. The overall result is that the fish have a slightly larger and deeper lake to grow in.

The unprecedented late winter storms meant that Laurent only just managed to finish working on the new bank in time for the season and some early season anglers struggled to find dry areas on the banks.

As you can see from the photos, the rain has at last relented and anglers are already able to set up on Laurent’s brand new bank. The small bay is to the right of the bivvies in the picture and the spring growth will soon soften the raw look left by the diggers.

Don’t worry, all of the famous carp were returned to the carp lake after the work had been completed, so big fish and lots of ‘em is still the Morgane trademark.

The cat lake was left untouched. Laurent deciding to let sleeping monsters lie on this occasion.
