Hi Phil,
I fished Island lake last August with Paul Cooper. It's not a runs water by any means but the fish are of an excellent size. I had 4 carp which were 37lb, 41lb 8oz, 46lb and 55lb 4oz.

I caught my fish on Quest Baits Rahja Spice and Liver B8 shelf lifes, using a combination of 10mm, 15mm and 20mm baits. Find the clear area's using the boat provided and bait very sparingly. I only put in about 20 different sized freebies and 2 handfuls of pellet for each run.

Whilst we were there the fish moved around a lot and we found it best to move around with them (see my article on the venue home page), this is something to bare in mind, move about if you can.

The cabins are ideal for putting your gear in and keeping food etc.

Have a good trip.

Cheers,
              Pat

Hi fished it last year, listen to what Mike the baliff tells you he a great bloke.
each swim has a rowing boat in it a he takes you out a shows you how to bounce the lead to find the clear patches
go easy on the freebies 2 handfulls at most.
we had poor conditions but i caught 4 fish all over 30 top weight 38.
i used a carp master oil based pellet (good for a week in the water without breaking down ) with plastic corn.
work for all my fish.
there were 9 of us and i had the most fish caught.
i fished from pegg 1 out to the island.
good luck
