Heading over to Margot in 3 weeks. Are there any anglers on it at the moment and if so any reports of the catches so far?
Hi Rory,
I think you’ll enjoy Margot as it has a fabulous head of fish including the jewel in the crown, the big common that we all hope will go over 60lb this year.
As Margot is a shallow venue, it is one of the lakes that warms the quickest and is therefore an excellent early season choice. Past seasons have seen some of the best catches in and around the March/April period.
If you check out the article by Andy Lear on the website you’ll see that in March 2006 the three lads landed 64 fish including the big common, they followed this up with a trip a year later in March 2007 and banked 71 fish to over 50lb. So you can see that the early part of the season is a good period on the lake.
As we are only the 5th March as I write we have had no anglers fishing the water since last autumn, so we have no recent catches to inform you of. In fact if you are out there in three weeks you’ll be among the first guys to fish it this year. Rest assured as soon as we start to get feedback on the venue will put it up on the site.
Regards, Gareth
