Clearing the feeder stream

By Heather Barber at Genets;

So often through the season I am asked the question “whatever do you do with yourselves in the winter, do you go “home” to see family, or go away on holiday?”  If I had a euro for each time I am asked that question I think I would now be taking a very long holiday :-)

My initial reaction is always to reply that I am already “home” as home to me is where I live which is at Les Genets in France. I do sometimes tell people very tongue in cheek that I disappear to the Caribbean for 3 months ( Oh I do wish)… & I’m sure that some actually believe me. continue reading…

Our 2009 season has drawn to a close at Genets & what an excellent season it proved to be seeing not only our first 50lb’er but 2 new 50’s, the first one being to Neil Bexon in May followed by a second new one to David Keep in September.

Numerous 40lb+ came out through the season and with our winter feeding programme now well under way we are sure all our resident Carp will be packing on the weight ready for next seasons anglers.

Throughout the winter we will be carrying out work around the lake, in addition to the usual work we will be replacing all the wooden platforms at the swims & thinning out some of the trees to let more sunlight through in some areas. We will also be making a new swim with platform on the far bank near the mobile-home.

All the very best for Christmas & the New Year to all of you, we look forward to the 2010 season in anticipation of what it will bring!

Hi all,

Just got this e-mail report through from Les Genêts lake owner Larry Arnold.

Ben Rook from Nottingham landed a Mirror of 45lb 7oz at 11 30pm Wednesday 30th April. He was fishing the swim opposite the house after moving from the pads swim.

This carp is not the same fish as last years record of 44lb 2oz. Ben fished Boilies over lake pellet and without the aid of a bait boat good old fashioned casting. Well done to him on this superb fish.

Cheers, Larry

We’ve just received an early season report from one of our carp fishing venues in Normandy, Genets .  Most lakes have, this last week or so, started to receive their first clients of the year. Conditions so far have been far from ideal. Here is a report from lake owner Heather Barber:

Genets in its summer glory

A wintry start for our first fishermen of the season at Genets;

No doubt this last week-end saw the start of the season for many Carp fishing venues in France, which makes me wonder how many fishermen were caught out by the extremely wintry weather we experienced over the week-end & in to Monday morning.

Our first fishermen of the 2008 season arrived on Saturday 5th April, 2 of them being returning visitors from last year. Although we had warned them to bring wet weather gear with them, as we were having a lot of rain, I’m sure they didn’t arrive expecting such a wintry start to their week’s fishing!! They had very sensibly brought warm clothing which they certainly needed.
