Mark Sidery’s new Lillypool record – 42lb (May 2010)

Following the stocking’s at Lillypool I was personally unsure as to what to expect from the lake and its visitors. We have all been very pleased with the results so far, with all fish putting on weight, some more than a few pounds.

Fishing slowed a little due to two spawnings and a bonkers 37 degrees. The weather has now cooled and I fully expect the fish to go on the munch.

A lot of the 30’s have been reluctant to show of late, but I won’t be surprised to see another one out having touched the magical 40lb mark.

Quest Bait over pellet is still producing the goods, with chilli choc and rhaja spice being favourites.

I would like to thank everyone who has fished and shared sometimes more than a few beers and laughs with me at Lillypool.

A new lake record common as been caught at Lillypool!

The impressive fish was caught by Mark Sidery at 42lbs. It’s also a new personal best common for Mark & was taken on a scopex/squid boilie fished over half a gallon of maggots, under some overhanging trees on the no fishing bank.

Special congratulations to Mark for landing his new P.B common.

Here’s the short video clip of the recent additional stocking at Lillypool.

To recap; on 18th December 2009 a further 55 carp were stocked.  Six of the fish were just under 20lbs with the rest ranging from 20 to 30lb, the average weight being 24lb 10oz, and the biggest being 29lb 5oz with two lovely commons of 28lb 12oz and 28lb.

One of the 55 immaculate carp recently stocked

Following on from the 33 grass carp stocked in September 2009, Santa came and emptied his sack early at Lillypool in the form of Michel and Laurent Bigot and their fish farming team.

On 18th December 2009 a further 55 carp were stocked, slightly more than was promised but we just couldn’t resist as they were all immaculate fish.

Six of the fish were just under 20lbs with the rest ranging from 20 to 30lbs. The average weight being 24lb 10oz and the biggest being 29lb 5oz with two lovely commons of 28lb 12oz and 28lb.

I spoke to Fran on the phone on 18th november about budget fishing around Calais for 3 to 4 people in May.  All info welcome…ps excellent service

Hi Jordan,

We have some cracking venues which are relatively inexpensive.

Beaurepaire around 2- 2.5 hours from Calais is cracking but already full for the whole of May. We do have 17th April still free? For three guys bivvy fishing the week with a transit sized van crossing on the ferry would work out around £762 = only £254 each. Water levels here do vary, So the peninsula swims have, early season been underwater as the Seine is close by, but  2009 ended with very low water levels so we are not expecting them to be high at the start of next season. I’d definitely give it a go.

I also have to say that Roseau is also near to the ferry port and is a super venue with plenty of runs and carp to over 50lbs. Back to former glories this lake is well worth a look. w/c 15th May is available and for 3 anglers in a van inc ferry again works out at less than £312 each. If you go in March there is a free food package included special offer!! If your budget is really tight look at Lillypool available only for w/c 22nd May. This lake can be booked exclusive and for 4 anglers with a van/minibus on the Dover to Calais ferry works out at around £240 each and it’s exclusive!!

There are some great early and late season offers to be had in March and October but with May being effectively prime season for fishing, cheap bargains on good lakes simply don’t happen. These lakes are very competitively priced and you only have to look at the feedback section on the website to see what I mean.

Finally I’d look at Malvoisine. 4 anglers fishing here with a minibus on the Dover to Calais ferry would be just under £235 each in May! Molyneux is also a great option but around £50 dearer pp. Check out his latest stocking addition in latest news!

Plenty of options but just give us a call for more details… we are there to help you choose the right holiday. After all a bargains not a bargain unless you enjoy it!
