54lb – the new Lord’s record

Geoff Matthews banked this 54lb mirror on his second visit to Lords.  That’s now the lake record.  And, what a stunner it is!

The same fish from May this year - then 49.08

Geoff recognised it as the same fish we featured in the 2012 Angling Lines brochure, so no doubt it will now be known as ‘The Brochure Fish’.

Despite being 6ft 2inches tall and a solid 17 stone, Geoff has done this beauty proud with his great photos.

Geoff’s comments;

“Don’t use too much bait. The air temperature was freezing on more than a couple of nights but the lake still fished really well.  My second trip here (see Lords feedback 3rd Septemberthis year … prepare for a very busy week!”

Jonathan pools party of 3 on Lords lake 9th to 16th April managed a total catch of 58 carp: 3  x 40′s caught (1 caught twice) largest 46.4 plus 19 x 30′s largest 33.5  and 36 mainly high 20′s with some singles . a great start to the season and clearly enjoyed the warm spring temperatures too

The group approached the fishing in two ways :1.Just Boilies but a lot of free offerings, both singles and double baits worked. 2. Maize/hemp/pellet beds fished over with maize & plastic. No need to use complicated rigs just keep it simple is the advice given.

Lords lake is a young lake  under the famous Bigot umbrella, it’s sister lakes being Morganes, Commons and Margot, well stocked and designed with a large double/treble swim in front of the mobile home great for a social alongside the fishing!
