76lb – the new lake record mirror at Laroussi

Richard Ward & his 6 mates fished Laroussi on w/c 13th November & what a winter session they had, topped by this magnificent 76lb lake record mirror for Richard.

In total the group caught 6 carp (15lb common,  18lb common,  22lb mirror (perfect linear),  33lb mirror,  42lb mirror, 76lb mirror) & 3 sturgeon from 49lb to 60lb.

Look at the width of that!

” We all went armed with the ever faithfull Quest Rahja Spice, but on the advice of Shaun Harrison I also went with 10mm’s & that’s what I caught the big girl on.  I’ve never really fished with 10mm’s before… but I will be from now on, so thank you Shaun!  All my carp came on 10mm’s fished at around 140 yards over a very small bed of Medhi’s famous parti-mix and a mixture of 10 to 20mm Rahja’s.  The weather was cold (down to minus 6 at night!) but the Rahja kept on producing.

Thank you to all at Angling Lines for having such a nice venue on your books and lastly thanks to the carp gods for allowing such a creature to grace my net”.

This superb 53lb common was one of a batch of 10 fish recently added to Sapphire

It’s November 2010 and Sapphire receives another stocking of carp… 9 x 40lb+ fish were added and a 53lb common.

A summary of the weights were as follows;

5 fish between 41lb and 43lb

2 fish at 44lb a piece

And the top three weighed in at 48lb, 49lb… and of course the 53lb common.

Korda marketing manager Ali Hamidi bagged this 70lb 8oz mirror known as Single Scale during a week at Gigantica France.  Ali 31, who also caught three other fish, revealed :

“The first part of the session had been a real hard slog I’d lost three fish through terrible luck and the swim was devoid of fish a lot of the time.  I decided to change my tactics and moved my baits further out.  I introduced a mixture of Mainline’s Cell and New Grange boilies along with a few tigers at long range and presented two rods on the area.

At 3.30am my critically-balanced homemade hookbait, made with Peach Ade and Scopex, gave me a steady run.  I knew very quickly that I had hooked something abnormally large and the noises in the darkness as it neared the net were scary!

Its immense mass was clear and when I caught a glimpse of its large single scale my legs went to jelly.  At the same time the fish went for one last run and weeded me at the bottom of the shelf.  I was shaking and thought I was about to lose it. I pulled for dear life and managed to get the fish clear of the weed then it popped like a beach ball. It was huge!

Bailiff Chuck Turley and Danny Fairbrass came over and weighed it for me. It was a new seventy for Gigantica, which means it almost definitely has three over the magical 70lb mark now. I think it’ll be a while before I beat this, though!”

Winning tackle included a size 6 Kaptor Wide Gape hook, an IQ/Supernatural combi-link and a 3.5oz lead.

58.03 for David from Lac du Val

Birthday boy Dave of Lac du Val landed a 58lb mirror on his birthday, 12th October 2010.

The fish was caught on Dave’s balanced rig of his own design (rig to be seen on Blog later) & the bait was Shaun Harrison’s new bait for Lac du Val 2011 which is now being tested & is doing well.
