A multi breakdown cover comes with all the benefits that you get in a separate plan. There are multiple cover options to choose from such as-

Roadside assistance- It is a basic breakdown cover type wherein the company will provide 24 X 7 roadside assistance. The mechanic will try to fix the problem roadside. The cover may include towing to the nearest garage in case the car cannot be fixed by the mechanic.
Home and Roadside assistance- This cover is very similar to one mentioned above with the added benefit that it covers for all breakdowns when the car is parked at home. So, if your car doesn't starts in the morning then you can call for the services of the company.
Comprehensive breakdown cover- This cover will help you get all help and is very useful if you drive long distances. The company will arrange a replacement car in case your car breaks down midway and may also arrange for overnight stay.

Great article and it does pretty much cover everything. I can see you are a man of experience in these matters! Folk spend so much time and money for that dream holiday it's really worth making the list. I have only a couple of bits to add... it can well be worth having a dry run to fit all the tackle in the car or van, this is especially advisable if your travelling with other guys you don't normally fish with.
Honestly, we have had panic calls at 10pm on a friday night when the ferry crossing is only 3 hours away to say 'can we add a trailer' because all the tackle won't fit in! I can just imagine the stress and arguments over whose bits will fit in and whats to be left behind.

The cutlery part is very apt as although most venues supply it initially often it disappears during the season. So what the hell do you guys do with all the teaspoons?

Finally, remember it is not necessary literally to take 'the kitchen sink'. If you are in any doubt as to what iand isn't there just ring and ask or blog the owner of the lake directly :-)
