Angling Lines News Report – October 2004
As winter rapidly approaches the carp have been packing on the weight in readiness and whilst the fishing has slowed somewhat the average size has been excellent on many venues. Indeed we have had quite a spate of lake records. Village, Vallée , Laroussi, A la Carp and Beaulacs all saw their respective best fish banked during the Autumn period.

Village
The ever popular Village de Pêche has proved once again what a fabulous venue it is and what a quality head of fish the 35 acre lake contains. Combined with the first class bar / restaurant serving top notch food, it has been a favourite choice for a number of years now.

Angling Lines customer Ivan Head from Norfolk enjoyed a mind-blowing week accompanied by his young son Scott. The pair fishing from peg 15 from 23 rd to the 30 th of October smashed the long standing lake record with a whopping fish of 63lb. This superb result was really the icing on the cake for a surprise present organised by Ivan's wife Paula. His successful bait was Mainline's Fusion and he tempted the massive mirror at about 40 yards range at 8pm. Ivan also banked a fantastic 43lb mirror along with other fish in the 20's range and a brace of sturgeon.

Vallée
Continuing the run of lake records a new venue best was set on Vallée by Dutch carp angler M. Reverda. Fishing on this noted big fish lake in the northern part of France, the Low Countries carper landed a huge mirror that weighed in at a hefty 59lb 4oz, and took over half an hour to subdue. The carp was hooked from peg 2, on the left hand bank near the house, and was part of a magnificent brace that also included a 46lb 2oz common. The successful method was ledgered Crab flavoured boilies.

This superb 100 acre lake has been producing some very large fish over the last few years and regularly throws up carp over 50lb.

Beaurepaire
A new venue for 2005 this 8 acre gravel pit is an ideal choice for anglers looking for an action water at a competitive price, just 2½ hours from the Calais ferry. Stocked in 2003 with around 260 mirror carp to 28lb the fish have been left to settle and grow with virtually no angling pressure. The lake can be booked exclusively for up to six anglers and has a new cabin toilet and shower block on site. The shape of the lake with a central peninsular gives groups the option of bivvying up together to enjoy the social side of the holiday while still commanding the whole of the lake.

Recent sessions by one of the few anglers to fish the lake since it was stocked, have produced catches of over twenty carp in a 24 hours session, averaging high teens and a good number of 20lb+ fish. The speedy growth rate of these young fish should see the venue producing thirty pound plus carp in the very near future.

Justices
This charming little lake set in the centre of France has been consistently producing good catches during the 2004 season. It's manageable size and good head of carp has made it a very popular choice with anglers who have made the journey.

Such a group were Mark and Peter Munson who were on the lake from 24th September to 2nd October 2004 . They both caught well but Mark did exceptionally well with 15 carp, including six thirty pound plus mirrors of 37lb 14oz; 37lb; 34lb 8oz; 34lb 6oz; 2x 34lb & 33lb plus seven doubles and twenties to 27lb 4oz.

Their comments were:
"Perfect directions, found the venue easily. Roger the bailiff was really helpful and came down everyday to check on our progress. The water itself was great, some lovely overhanging trees to fish to, plenty of depth. Although definitely not an easy water, the harder you work the better the rewards. We had a fantastic week. just to say thanks for the well organised way you guys work, we are already discussing next years trip!"

Le Beau Lacs
Another new venue for 2005. this lake has to be one of the most attractive in France ! The water has extensive beds of pads that provide great features to fish to. The well laid out swims and great onsite facilities have been greatly appreciated by the anglers who have fished there.
The week of the 16 th October saw a group of four capers, Jamie Bell, Gerald Read, Alan Hawkins & Steve White, get amongst the lovely fish that this lake holds setting a lake record to boot at 31lb 8oz.

Their comments were:
"T
his has to go down as one our best week's carp fishing. 4 of us fished, of which 2 had never fished for carp in their lives and both caught stunning fish up to 30lb and are now well and truly hooked! The total for the week was 27 fish with many doubles or high doubles and all the fish were in immaculate condition."
