Many times I log on to one of the carp fishing forums and the question of a ‘Runs’ water only a short drive from Calais comes up.
Well look no further. Beaurepaire has shown throughout the 2008 season that is can regularly produce some massive hauls of carp. Here are just a few of the catches from last season:
May: 80 Fish in total... biggest being 37.4, 5 x 30's, 12 x Catfish upto 21lb
June: 73 fish mostly 20's and 30's. Several 30+'s to 40.04lbs
August: 57 fish.... mirrors to 38.00lb. Grass carp to 29.00lb, 1 small catfish and 1 x Koi
September : 76 fish in total: 1 x 40, 7 x 30's, 2 x 30's cats, 25 x 20's, 30 up to 20.0, and 10 grass carp
These results also prove that it really does fish all season long.
So for anyone looking to book an action packed water where the fish are piling on the weight too, this one is well worth a look. Most of the carp are now in the 20’s with a good number of 30’s coming through and a lake record set in September of 43lb 4oz.
Regards, Gareth.

Beaurepaire Facelift Planned
The lake of Beaurepaire in the Aisne region near Reims is to get a facelift this autumn, to provide better access to fishing areas and to have better swims cut out along the banks.
A recent meeting with the lake’s owner set out a few improvements for the venue that will make fishing more comfortable and improve access for 2008. Anyone visiting the venue in 2007 will have seen how the bankside trees and other vegetation has flourished during the extremely wet summer we have had this year. The margins around the venue will be cleared of the shoots and some of the trees that have made fishing awkward on some pegs removed.
A total of twelve pegs will be marked out around the perimeter of the lake making fishing easier when water levels are high, notably in the Spring. The bank area in these pegs will be stepped and flattened to make the setting up of bivvies more comfortable.
These improvements will enhance this extremely prolific venue, without affecting the aesthetics of the site. During my tour of the lake this week the lads fishing had really got amongst the fish banking well over 70 fish to three anglers, the largest over 30lb. The average weights are improving year on year and are now in the 18lb to 25lb bracket. An ideal venue for action packed fishing in peaceful surroundings.

Details: Thanks for a great week!
Hi Bridget,
I would like to send you a big thank you for the competition prize of a weeks fishing at Beaurepaire. I booked the lake and took my brother along as he had never been to France before.
We have been back less than 24 hrs and we are already missing the place (especially as its raining here and were burnt to a crisp Ha Ha).
The carp catching virtually started as soon as we got there. There was plenty of fish showing and after a couple of hours I had bagged a couple. That set the tone of the week really, steady catching during the day but not a lot at night (at least we could keep our rest up). Below is a breakdown of what we caught and I have also attached a couple of pictures.
In total i had 30 fish for 536lb 4oz and Dave had 20 fish for 333lb 4oz. My biggest fish was 31lb 4oz and our Dave's was 22lb 12oz. If there was one complaint, or just to worn others, the place is stuffed with bream and skimmer bream. We caught loads of them and ended up using really big baits to avoid them. I even caught a Pike on 2 18mm boilies. Dave did achieve one of his ambitions of catching a cat fish, unfortunately it only weighted about 3lb.
Once again a big thanks to you and all the people at angling lines. I would recommend Beaurepaire to anyone wanting to catch fish, i would even go back again one day (i might even pay this time ha ha ha). If this is the standard of your fisheries i can only say one thing..........Bring on Laroussi in October!!!!
Thanks
Andy Wilson

Details: Stocking at Beaurepaire
Initial stocking of the lake took place in January 2003 when a large number of mirror and grass carp were introduced. Approximate numbers were:
800kg of carp between 19lb and 27lb
400kg of carp between 8lb and 11lb
200kg of carp between 4lb 8oz and 6lb 8oz
This gave a total of around 250 carp - unfished for since they were introduced. They have been fed on maize and pellets on a regular basis over the last year resulting in rapid weight gains – a couple of sessions by myself and friends have produced fish from 12 to 24lb, with most fish over 15lb.
To supplement the first stocking the water received a further batch of fish this week. In all eleven large mirrors were stocked, their weights were:
Many of the stock from two years ago will certainly have topped the 30lb barrier by now and most of this most recent group will do so by next summer, offering excellent action with the chance of some very nice sized fish.
