General comments: Another great trip with Angling Lines, thanks very much!! It's worth pointing out that you have to fish on wooden platforms so pods are required, we weren't informed of this so it would have been a pain if we didn't have pods, which we did. I would also like to say a big thank you, NOT, to the 2 anglers who fished the week before us. They left discarded bait, food and rubbish everywhere. Idiots like this give a bad name to all anglers, you know who you are! Lastly a big thanks to Sandra, every lake could do with a Sandra!

Brief details of your catches: What a glorious week with 25 fish caught with an average weight of just under 29lb, The average stamp of fish is high, virtually every fish was mid 20's plus. And do they scrap!! Biggest catch was 37.0 a personal best for Eric.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Bait was quest boilies, but i really don't think it matters that much. we had a couple of Tigers with us which also caught a couple of fish. This lake is simple, find signs of fish, find a clear spot nearby, bait up a bit and cast to it - you can use the boat and it would probably help.

General comments: Sandra is an absolute gem of a person, anything you need or want she'll get it for you, as long as you make her a cuppa (small cup, 1 sugar) Finally, we have to dedicate this week to our mate Ed He was the one who won the Angling Lines competition which allowed us to have this wonderful holiday here. Sadly he was taken into hospital for an operation and died there - we all miss him terribly. There was always someone missing this week and all the good times we had, and all the fish caught arer dedicated to him Thanks mate Andy(Big A), Eric and Plil

General comments: Don't take too much weed away - it's a great place to ambush fish from!.... maybe a small boat in each swim so any snagged fish can be retrieved safely, instead of pulling for a break (as with some previous guests) which damages the mouths of these precious fish Look after Sandra, she is a big assett to your set up here, very helpful and a gem!!

General comments: Upon arrival to Cedar Lake i was shocked to see so much weed covering the lake and Tommy was out in the boat pulling as much weed in as possible to allow us some kind of fishing for that week. I was surprised that this work to clear the weed wasn't done during the close period (Oct - Mar)already We asked Sandra for some advice on where to fish but she had no knowledge of where the fish were to be caught,just showed us a book of previous catches. For future anglers visiting Cedar Lake also watch out for the diving birds, during our visit i had 2 birds dive to catch fish and get there wings caught up in my lines.(mind your fingers they do bite) On a nicer note, its a quiet place (apart from the frogs at night)lovely surroundings, and only 5 minutes to a local Supermarket (Champion) which sells everything you need. Directions from Angling Lines were spot on using there GPS information it took us straight outside the gates to Cedar Lake

General comments: Exceptional service again, however the lake itself didn't live up to expectations. This was probably due to the weed problem, there is a possibility that weedkiller had recently been added to the lake as some was still present on site. This was probably responsible for affecting the fishing badly with 2 out of 4 anglers blanking.

General comments: No cooking equipment was needed - fridge, gas hob, microwave and all equipment and utensils for cooking with was provided. The village has an excellent supermarket so really there is no need to take any food with you. The shower block was also fantastic. The bailiff and owner of the lake were friendly and very helpful at all times. The lake itself was very weedy and clear spots had to be found in the boat prior to fishing. A total of 10 fish were lost due to the weed. The only complaint we had was that the brochure & website states 6 swims but there were actually only 2 double swims, so four anglers is the maximum with no room to move swims.

General comments: Sandra was a gem with bread & brought us beer 1 day when we'd had a few too many to drive. We did have 2 quiet days when the pike made things interesting the 27 & 37 came on the first day & both on the mat together, a mad 20 minutes for us both. Brief details of your catches: 40 carp altogether, which included mirrors of 38lb 2oz, 35lb 4oz, 33lb 12oz, 31lb, 30lb 4oz, 30lb 3oz and 27 x 20's most being around the 28lb mark.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Bait was 20mm and 15mm Quest Rahja Spice bottom baits, fished over well spread area of spodded hemp and boilies. There were areas of weed beds in the lake, but by taking time to plum the lake with the marker float we established a number of large clearer areas to fish to. This took up a large part of our first day, as we wanted to get perfect presentation for the wary carp. Once we found a couple of clearer spots we spodded out hemp over these areas, spreading it out in order to get the fish to start work on the remainder of the weed for us. For the first couple of days the selected areas were heavily baited until the weed was cleared completely by the fish. Care was taken not to fish at distance and in any case not to fish over the weed beds on the far margins, all the areas fished were in easy casting distance which could be easily topped up by spodding or catapulting out the bait. My end tackle consisted of 2oz in line pear shaped leads with a 45lb Quicksilver shock leader, long hook links made of a combination rig of 19lb Seaguar fluorocarbon and 25lb Mantis with Ashima c310 size 4 hooks. The clutch was set tight as if fishing a snag swim in order to lesson the fish bolting over to the far weeded margins.The measures taken reduced the chances of losing fish once hooked as previously reported by other anglers on the lake. In total between Pat and myself, only 3 fish were lost due to sharp objects on the floor of the lake, possibly swan muscles, where a couple of inches of the hook link were cleanly severed. No fish were lost as a result of the weed in the lake.

General comments: With a bit of thought and preparation this lake can be tackled successfully and the weed should not produce any problems to the experienced carp angler. I am aware that the owners of Cedar Lake are in the process of removing most of the weed from the lake, to ease this problem for visiting anglers. Cedar Lake has a heavy stock of large carp and will produce good catches throughout the year. There are now freezer facilities for the anglers and each lodge now provides a microwave, fridge, and toaster and they are equipped with English style plugging points. The fishing stages are excellent and are comfortable for 2 anglers and there equipment, this making for clean angling. Most of the carp are above 27lb in weight and are strong fighters, expect a good scrap of every fish, they just don't give up.

Brief details of your catches: We had a total of 41 carp, smallest was 16lb and the largest was 40lb.10ozIt included 2 x 40lb carp and at least 7 thirties.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: We had success with halibut pelet in the margins. Didn't get much success from the weed. It was lovely weather 25 or 26 degrees all week, and the carp had started to spawn.

Were the facilities what you expected? Had problems with fridge in our chalet 1 but owner is set to replace it. Also a bit disappointed that the shower ... struggled with the generator

Were you happy with them? Almost - bit disappointed would have liked the cooker to be bigger as well.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? To anglers yes, not so much for the ladies.

Would you recommend our services to a friend? If you put this information down,... yes. Normally companies don't!

General comments: I'd suggest a microwave and a George Forman grill, they would supplement the 4 ring gas hob. We enjoyed being there and had a nice relaxing holiday but from a womens point of view facilities could be a bit better.

Brief details of your catches: We had 39 fish in total, 2 x 18s, 33 x 20s to 29.5lb and 4 x 30s to 39lb

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: The majority of the fish caught were on the method with big halibut pellets on the hair.Longer hooklinks seemed to work best and we kept everything simple.

General comments: Cedar Lake is a first class venue with a seemingly very good head of fish. All the fish we caught were in top class condition. As well as the great fishing and excellent facilities the people were so helpful and friendly is was just a real joy to be there. A chat with Tommy is a must he is an absoulute diamond and really knows his stuff.
