Details: Final Stocking at Commons Lake
Hi All,
Just got a fax through from Michel & Laurent Bigot with information of the final stocking into Commons lake this week. This brings to total number of carp in the lake now to around 175 fish.
This weeks stocking consisted of 50 fish ranging in weight from 18lb-24lb for an average weight of 20lb 8oz.
This density of fish in a relatively small water, coupled with the improvements to the terrace area in front of the mobile home, should transform the venue for the coming season.

Additional Stocking
This week saw the addition of more fish stocks to the Commons lake. There were six fish stocked during my visit, weighing between 24lb and 28lb... all mirrors. This was in addition to a mid thirty common Michel had added last week.
Michel informed us of his intention to add an additional 30 or 40 carp before the end of the month.
Lake Improvements
The first thing I noticed as we drove up the track to the lake was that it had recently been resurfaced with several truck loads of stone and gravel. On arrival at the lake we were able to look in on the work that was in progress to add a fishing platform and decking terrace to the front of the mobile home. The platform was done in the same style as those destined for Margot with railway sleepers backfilled with hardcore. Great improvements that'll definitely add to the comfort of fishing near the mobile home.

Details: Fabulous Start at Commons Lake
Fabulous Start at Commons Lake
The first group of anglers to fish Commons Lake this year from 21st - 28th April, had the best start possible when they landed 98 fish during the week to four anglers.
The group from Bristol tallied 2 x 40’s including the largest carp in the lake a 48lb common, 20x 30’s to 39lb. They also managed catfish to 58lb and the superb diamond backed sturgeon at 51lb.
Paul Goodman was top rod taking most of his fish from the right hand margin near the over hanging trees. With 36 fish to his credit he also had the largest catfish.
Successful tactics were varied for the group, but a bait boat presenting a tight bed of bait was the most deadly technique. This worked both on the far and right hand margins. Baits were a mixture of pellet, particle over a spicy boile and hi viz pop ups.
Even though this was the opening week on the venue the catches were outstanding and bodes will for this new venue.
Suitable for 4 anglers the venue has a lake side mobile home and convivial terrace.
