General comments: had a great weeks fishing, lake is gorgeous, fish are stunning and fight real hard. danny turtle (top chef) has some of pics, would be nice to receive them by email, cheers danny.

General comments: Great service from Angling Lines, the venue was fantastic, very well looked after by Dan, food package was spot on. Fishing was challenging but extremely rewarding. Look forward to a return visit.

General comments: 3 x forty's, 5x thirty's and numerous 20's and teens. I managed to catch 18 carp in 6 nights with two being personal best's... a 44lb common and 46lb 8oz mirror. Loved every minute, the fish are in excellent condition & I loved the boating side of things.

Brief details of your catches: Myself Robert Emery at around 1:50am woke to a screaming run. Landed a 29lb 6oz Common. Damon Turner during the day struck into a 18lb 6oz Common. Liam Turner struck into a 37lb 10oz Mirror on Damons rod in the next swin to him.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Pile in the bait around 7pm as it is too hot during the day in August. Group rods in a line about 100yrd from Alcatraz (the swim i were in).

General comments: Waited 5 hours for our equipment to be handed to us from when we were allowed on the venue which meant around 6pm and same with the bait. Were not told prior to leaving what gear i.e. Landing mats, Landing nets that we did not need to take as were supplied.

Brief details of your catches: 9 fish in total including: 19lb x 3 commons/mirrors; 24 x 29lb mirrors; 35lb, 36lb, 38lb mirrors & equal lake record 72lb mirror. Other local lakes were not fishing as well.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Using Korda end tackle & wide gape hooks 6 & 4's, lead chips & leads all matching the clay & gravel bottom. Only 50-80 yds out.

General comments: As you know I won the competition to fish Gigantica. I took my long time fishing mate, Ray Curtis, with me, he’s 71 and I am 63 and we have been carp fishing for many years even before the hair rig and boilies. We’ve been to France many times and had good results but this trip surpassed all before due to just 1 fish. The week was a bit slow to start due to the fish spawning and very hot days. Danny, the bailiff, gave us all his experience and help to get us going. We managed some fish including fish into high 30’s up to Wednesday evening when Danny was doing a BBQ for us all. In true fishing tales, as the BBQ was all but ready, Ray was into a fish on the same rod that he had 10 min earlier landed a 38lb mirror which took him 22 min to net, which I managed for him. Ray has a muscle problem in his right arm & hand which means most fish 25lb & above are almost impossible for him to hold. In the water this fish looked bigger than the 38lb & after 12 min I netted it & said “it looks a good 60”. On trying to lift it I realised what a lump it was. On the second attempt I lifted it to the superb unhooking mat supplied here & as soon as Danny saw it he said “it’s the big girl”. The BBQ was left to darken well as all the careful procedures were put in operation to deal with the fish, ie Klinik the hook mark and one of two spawning marks. She was carefully weighed on two separate scales both settling on 72lb and well watered before and during the photos. Just think what she might have been 3 / 4 days earlier before spawning. The rest of the week although smashing was an anti-climax although I managed fish to 35lb+ We would like to say a big thank you to Danny Fairbrass for the opportunity to win the competition supplied by your good selves at Angling Lines & Danny the bailiff for all his help which was great, he cooks well also. General comments: Here are two pics of the fish I caught last weekend at lake Gigantica. My wife and I went there for a relaxing fishing weekend. Relaxing it was. We had marvellous weather, a bit all to marvellous since the fish started spawning on our third and last day of the trip. Nevertheless I was able to hook 3 and land 2 fish. The first was hooked on a bottom boilie bait an spat the hook just before landing it. Both other fish where caught on friday 22 may in the hottest moments of the day on a zig rig from the peg named 'Co's point'. The zig rig consisted of a 2,5 oz square pear on a Korda running rig system, a medium sized underwater float (buldo). The 3 ft monofilament hooklink with a Korda Widegape B 8 hook is attached with a swivel to the mainline. The bait was a small piece of cork mounted on a D-rig. I fished the bait about 7 ft under the surface. From friday-night fish had spawning on their minds, no more fish where caught. if you need more info, please let me know. Brief details of your catches: Blanked..... we did see fish but there were only us 2 and Danny Fairbrass and his friend fishing, Danny had fish out, but we didn't get on them. We had decided to go early to fish before spawning, but hadn't taken into account the depth of the lake, so with it still being early the water hadn't had chance to warm up.
