Two Carp for 104lb in 45 minutes at Laroussi!
In the short time we’ve had this venue on the Angling Lines books it’s certainly caused a stir - the average weight of fish it’s produced has been nothing short of exceptional.
A case in point was the remarkable catch that fell to a young French angler Stephane Carpéné (now there’s a name for a carp angler). He landed 2 carp for 104lb 12oz in just 45 minutes!
The first was a was a 49lb specimen and the second a new lake record of 55lb 12oz, a known fish called “Caro”, coming only minutes after releasing the first carp.
In total during his weeks stay he also had mirrors of 40lb, 26.5lb, 26.5lb, 30lb, 31lb, 33lb and sturgeon of: 40lb, 40l , 40lb, 47.5lb …giving the following averages;
- Mirror average: 36lb+
- Sturgeon average : 42lb+
- Total average : 30lb+
Fishing the ‘Anse’ swim his successful tactics were Mainline ‘Fusion’ pop-ups over a bed of pellets and free offerings, size 6 ESP Raptor hooks with a coated braid hook link peeled back near the hook and a 4oz lead.
Stephane takes up the story: “I was on the point of packing up when I had the first run. I felt a big fish, making slow rushes and hugging the bottom. After a heavy fight I lifted the monster onto my unhooking mat. What a fish! My PB pulverised, on the scales she goes 49lb. Yippee!, photos done I delicately release the fish.
As I go to reel in my two remaining rods a second run occurs. Incredible! The same heavy fight… very heavy. My heart is going at 100 miles an hour as I see the fish, and manage to slide it into my net. This carp is quite simply massive. 55lb 12oz and a new lake record!!”

General comments: The lake was fantastic, all swims were in brilliant condition. The lake owner was very friendly and helpful ensuring that we had a very good week's fishing. Fish were caught on a regular basis, they fought well and were in excellent condition. A lake we will come back to! Thank you.

Brief details of your catches: On the first 2 days we both had runs but they all pulled out. On the 3 rd day, at about 1am , I had a 39lb sturgeon and then at about 5am I had a 29lb mirror carp. The next day at 8pm my friend had a 47lb sturgeon and later on I had a 15lb common. On the last morning my friend had another sturgeon of 35lb.
What did you find were the best tactics/baits: The pellets the bailiffs sold were extremely good but we used trigga snowman and techni spice boilies.
Were the facilities what you expected? Better by far.
Were you happy with them? Very happy
Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Definitely. We’ll be back there next year!

General comments: The bailiff was extremely helpful and the place was awesome. Could have done with better directions. |

Brief details of your catches: My friend didn’t manage to catch any carp but had 3 huge sturgeon, 36lb, 38lb and a 42lb monster (which put the smile back onto his face). My first fish broke my PB by 11lb, a beautiful mirror carp weighing 31½lb (fished at 135 yard range just below some over-hanging trees). I also had a 27lb mirror carp, which I thought was much bigger due to the long fight we had together! I also had a lovely looking grass carp on my last day weighing 19lb.
What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Pop-ups seemed to work best. Mainline Fusion and Solar Pineapple & Cream were the call of the day. Also had a few runs using tigernut boilies, Active Maple 8's were very good too (always presented over a large bed of very good pellet).

General comments: Had a really good time there and found the owner, Mehdi, a really nice bloke. He looked after us well and he really knows his stuff. He showed me some new tactics while I was there that I had not used before and it was only after he had given me some pointers that I was able to catch my thirty (good man)!!
I fished to a hole at 30 yard range and we had a good giggle in seeing who could successfully chuck balls of pellet paste directly on top of it. After much effort and a very aching shoulder I was fully baited up and Mehdi was ready to return to his house!!
Overall, it was a complete success and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Great fishing, lovely lake, beautiful fish and a top bloke as the owner .......what else could anyone ask for. |

"It's the carp fishing session of my life!!!!!!!"
"The lake is very picturesque; set in quiet surroundings. The layout of the swims has been well thought out, with fishing from only one bank in the main body of the lake. This allows you to fish with no worry of interference from other anglers. We found that the lake bed is silty in many areas but has raised gravel patches where the fish like to feed. The most productive approach where we fished was to spod out to the gravel with seeds or pellets and fish pop up and snowman hook baits. The fish are good looking with a balanced mix of original fish and newly stocked fish; with their different feeding habits it makes for plenty of action day and night.
The owner is very helpful and makes you at home very quickly. He has a good understanding of the English angler and takes great care to ensure the fish are treated very well which is nice to see. One to look out for in the future!!!!! " General comments: This terrific week for Mr Jakeman and his friend is the new record of the total weight in a week by 2 anglers! One new PB grass carp 34lb 8oz and new PB carp 46lb for the both.
The most impressive thing was the discovery of at least 5 new and totally unknown carp (resident)! One of them was 46lb! and 1 hour of hard fight! 4 other fish between 20 and 37.5lb with a heavy scaled mirror of 26lb.
They have spodded during the whole week, night and day; keep feeding the fish. And they caught fish very regularly night and day.
Excellent English angling! Congratulations!

Brace of high forties for Angling Lines Boss!
Angling Lines Director, David Keep, took time off from the business to visit one of their newest venues Laroussi - and he certainly made the most of it!
Fishing with his brother the pair took a brace of high forties, 49.08 & 47.12, seven thirties to 38.06 and 19 good twenties. Just for good measure they had Sturgeon to 45lbs!
David commented;
"Laroussi is a typical French gravel pit - the bottoms like a mountain range - so it makes for very interesting fishing. We picked our spots, spodded out fairly big beds of particle & boilies and then it was a case of hoping you'd picked the right features. When the big fish moved in the problem was holding them. In retrospect we probably should have used more bait"

A french angler has fished the lake during 3 days and he has fantastic results!!!!! 16 fish caught ; 3 hook pull and 2 broken I send you the catches report of this anglers..... 212kg = 16 fish=total average =29.2lb !!!!! 158kg=11 carp=carp average =31.6lb !!!!!! excellent fishing for bad conditions for fishing (sun.....no wind and high temperature =32)
