General comments: It is the first week in november and what a week ! 64lb mirror ( 3 different sixties now) at Laroussi, It smashed my PB by 33lb ! The fish are very healthy here and very strong. It was the biggest fish I have ever seen like a log, that's what it felt like... Laroussi for me is THE place for big carp with one or two 60lb+ coming out once a week for the past 3 weeks ! I will be back for more next year. My dream has come true ! Thanks Mehdi

General comments: Simon says: this lake is a carp anglers dream! The fish are huge and hard fighting and there are plenty of them. Good shops nearby. Lake owner Mehdi is very enthusiastic and always pleased to see anglers catch. He takes a lot of pride in his lake and his fish. Nathan's birthday was on the 26th and he says it was his best birthday ever! He also caught his PB on his birthday. Mehdi also speaks excellent English! Wayne says: Overjoyed with this 63lb 8oz mirror! My PB was 35lb 8oz. I blanked for 3 days and this was my second fish and my first time in France and I never expected to catch anything this big and I am still in shock! Glen Swaby, Wayne Naylor, 22.10.05 to 29.10.05 " Life time fishing!" When we arrived at Laroussi, we were greated by the owner, Mehdi, who took us through the rules of the lake, and advised us on swims and best tactics to try to help us as much as possible. On a walk round the lake and looking at each swim, myself and Wayne Naylor opted to fish in a swim called “le chene”, which gave us plenty of open water and a particular area around 110yards out where we noticed a few carp were crashing. We set up the bivvy, and tackle then did some feature finding towards the far bank, where we discovered a shelf rising up from 9ft to 6ft. We opted to bait the area with 3kg boilies 18mm and 16mm. Then walked round to the far bank and introduces a further 5kg of pellets, to which we both fished 1 rod each. A further rod was put out to open water and the other rods were fished to the margins. The first night passed with the odd liner to most rods but no takes, a quick rebait and all the rods were back out, the fish that were crashing all around kept us very confident indeed. Seeing all the photographs of fish that had been caught in the facilities and the sizes were truly amazing on the weight gain of these fish. The lake record stood at 55lb but Mehdi assured us that was back in April and he was confident the lake would produce a 60lb plus in time. Sunday afternoon saw my right hand rod tear of at an oustanding rate. After a tough 15 minute battle, my first fish, a 46lb sturgeon. Sunday night came and went without me and Wayne having a run, but Monday morning, my middle rod out of the far margin burst into life, greeting me with a 48.5lb mirror, a new personal best. Wayne had not yet received a run. Mehdi explained that the lake had not fished really well for the last 2 previous weeks due to all the natural food which was apparent with all the snails and insect life in the water, but what was going to happen soon changed all that. The runs started to come constant for us both on the far shelf, to such a degree we opted to fish 2 rods each to the far side as the margins to our left and right were quiet. Wayne hooked into a fish that he said felt really heavy. After a long fight, I lifted the under the fish for him. What a monster! I have never seen a fish so big. Putting the fish in the weigh sling, we put our 60lb reuben heaton scales on what a waste of time it bottomed out the scales. I fetched Mehdi to use his 120lb scales. The mirror went 63.5lb - new lake record and Laroussi’s first 60lb fish. Mehdi was over the moon and so was Wayne. The fish still came: singles 20's, 30's, 40's and then Wayne hooked into another big fish, 54lb 12oz another mirror. Wednesday, my middle rod gave a slow drop back, striking into it the rod locked up solid, then slowly inch by inch, it moved towards me feeling very heavy indeed. Maybe it could be another 50lb I hoped, but after a 20 minute battle, it was in the net. It looked huge, this fish bottomed out the scales again. Weighing with Mehdi, it went 65lb a half linear, another lake record. A personal best that I don’t think I will beat ever, but we are back next year, so who knows? Brilliant place. Fishing and host. General comments: This venue has been the most difficult one we have ever fished for carp, a little disappointed that we could not get the carp to feed until the very last morning but it has not put us off as we are going to book it again for 2007.

No, fridge not clean with old food left in it, rubish left from previous week, had to clean black mould from shower base, large freezer in toilet taking up most room, no toilet seat. ANGLING LINES COMMENT: "Extremely unusual feedback for this venue, but we do know that the owners baby was extremely ill in hospital this week - whilst no excuse it does go some way to explaining the situation."

General comments: Mr Sheppard : Very good fishery, nice area and perfect venue even for a non-fisher ! will definately come back ! Mr Betteridge : Very hot conditions average 36°C few fish caught: too damn hot ! Mehdi was fantastic and helped a lot. In the high temperature, evening and mornings best. Saw very big fish crashing but unfortunately not feeding. In the very hot afternoon's we held a France v England match fishing competition. For the record England won 2-0 ! Fantastic holiday ! will visit again when cooler !

General comments: Slow fishing (bad temperatures) but many runs. Don't use rubber hooks. Had a brilliant time and the biggest fish of my life 96lb catfish ! We will come back !

General comments: Our trip started at 2 am on the Saturday morning for our Dover to Calais crossing all 6 of us ready for our annual fishing trip. We arrived at the lake at 2.30 pm... yes 12 hrs motoring (so this gives you an idea if you want to travel this route) and was greeted by the owner Menhdi who ran through some of the rules (no litter no fag buts left on the ground, bottles kept apart from rubbish) and rightly so when you see what he has done to the place. We all picked swims and we were off. Now me and 4 of the lads go to France every year but this year we had a new comer Alun who slept all the way there and was full of life unlike the rest of us who were knackered - he found himself a small corner away from us all. At 1.30am came my first fish a grass carp at 36.4lb but unfortunately I have no photo as for the life of me I could not wake my mate Geoff up .The fishing had started I thought to my self , the weather in the morning and for the rest of the week was roasting and large carp graced our banks after many false runs which you get used to – thanks Mr Sturgeon! Aluns first fish came after 2 days but I have to take my hat of to the bloke he worked hard at it and although it was his first time in France and his pb only 19lb,on this trip he smashed it over and over again. He had many fish - his largest carp at 35lb & sturgeon at 45lb - and although the famous 5 had all caught good fish the little bugger had showed us how to do it and caught more than us! Well done mate!! The largest carp to grace our bank was a 36.12lb mirror & 50lb sturgeon but many thirties were caught. All I can say is that its a cracking lake with good facilities Mehdi a great bloke who is always there if you need him and he can give you some good tips and don't forget there are some large fish there also. Brief details of your catches: Well what an unusual week. Arrived on time and had a talk to owner and he told us all the carp had been spawning since the previous Wednesday & were not interested in anything else. Sorry to say this is the way things turned out. Alec fished the 'Anse' & I was in the next one along, the 'beach'. There were a lot of small carp in the bay to my left but not worth concentrating on. I fished gravel bars, silt patches, margins, everything I could think of but to no avail.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I noticed that all the other guys were feeding heavily, so, after a few days changed my tactics. On two of my rods I fished single baits at range and managed to pick up one decent carp of 35lb+, the only carp caught that week. Out of desperation I tried for the sturgeon baiting heavily with pellet and boilie and was lucky in catching the biggest in the lake at 48lb 12oz. Alec had one at 30lb and a few of the others caught fish of all sizes but no carp.

General comments: We took a different route than you sent, a friend advised us to go from Rouen down to Chartres via Evreux and Dreux then on to the A11 to Le Mans. We found it easy and quick. We're going back for another try, it owes us a couple of big fish.

A lot of dropped faces.However,nobody's fault.My son David and I fished the point and whilst I tried very hard for carp in the difficult circumstances caught one common at 12lb, David caught 5 sturgeon all his PB at 43lb,45lb,47lb,47lb and just over 47lb.We know this wasn't what we were after but my son was happy with 229lb

Another angler has caught a 36lb and 54lb10oz. So 6 x 50Lb'er+ in 7 days(between the last week and this one ) can't be bad for any venue, can it?! A French angler caught the second Largest brown back sturgeon in France
