Molyneux lies in the beautiful Normandy countryside and is very easy to reach being just 2¾ hours from Calais and 1¼ hours from Le Havre… and apart from the last ten minutes it’s all motorway!

The lake is nestled in stunning countryside far from noise and light pollution, the loudest noise being the birdsong that provides a peaceful backdrop to the fantastic carp fishing on offer.

Here’s some examples of feedback from 2009;

" A very pretty lake with good swims all round. I would recommend the food package... the evening meal is supplied by a local chef. Andrew the owner was more than helpful but was never in your face. I had a fantastic time. "
Rob Law, June 2009

" Another great week at the beautiful and peaceful Molyneux. Andrew the owner is a top fella with plenty of knowledge of carp, rigs and tactics. He really wants you to catch and enjoy your weeks fishing without imposing himself on you. "
Kev Brennan, April 2009

The lake is a genuine 13 acres, sitting securely in a 19 acre fenced plot. It’s around 40 years old, spring fed and the banks are lined with fully grown willow trees which have had plenty of time to mature. It’s truly a stunning water to fish with many anglers remarking on its beauty.

The lake is mainly snag free, except around the islands, which of course are hot spots, but are easily fished with a little application. There are no poisson chat and very few crayfish.

With a maximum of 6 anglers (8 if booked exclusive) fishing this 13 acre lake, there’s plenty of room for un-pressurised fishing. Switching swims is possible… some are double and one will even accommodate three anglers.

Best tactics are often to fish to the islands over a small amount of bait… or to create a bed of bait in open water. With the open water tactic it sometimes takes a few days for the fish to move in, but once they do some very big hits can be had. The key to continued success is to then regularly top up the swim with bait. Rigs don’t need to be complicated, indeed simple and strong are the best choice.

Show me some more general photo's of the lake.

You are allowed to use the on-site boat and fish-finder/sonar for the first day to get to know your swim (with consideration for other anglers)… but after the first day it can only be used in exceptional circumstances (such as snagged fish). Life jackets are supplied and MUST always be worn when in the boat.

As an added service the lake does have a bivvy and a bedchair which can be rented @ £50 for the week. Ring the Angling Lines office for more details.

Should you require more comfort than a bivvy there’s a lovely log cabin which sleeps up to 4. Inside it comprises bunk beds on the ground floor and a double bed up the steps on the mezzanine area. It has cooking facilities (2 hotplates), fridge/freezer, toilet, wash basin and bedding is provided. The accommodation is rented separately from the fishing - ring the Angling Lines office for prices.

Other facilities on site include a brick built toilet and shower block with four hot showers and three English toilets. There is free freezer space for frozen baits and electricity points should you want to charge a bait boat, phones or other electrical equipment.

Show me some photo's of the facilities.

There’s plenty to interest non-anglers in the local area including several beautiful French towns within 6km. One is known locally as the “Town of Flowers” and sits in its own micro-climate, enjoying plenty of sunshine and little rain. This town has a sleepy and friendly atmosphere with lots of excellent restaurants & bars, 3 supermarkets and a launderette. A little further afield the motorway network puts several major cities within easy reach - Paris (80km), Rouen (40km) and Giverney (Monet’s Garden) 20km away.

A breakfasts & evening meal package is available. Meals are generally served at the outside eating area... but they can be delivered to your swim if you wish.

The charge for the full meal package (breakfast & evening meal) is £99.

The charge for the evening meal only package is £62 for the week.

If you book the meal package you will be asked to pay a 10% deposit to Angling Lines and the balance to the lake in euros when you arrive. Please note that due to fluctuations in the exchange rate the balance you pay when you arrive may not equate exactly to the remaining 90% in £’s sterling – it may be slightly more or less due to a change in the exchange rate.

In 1979 the lake was stocked with 80 mirrors and commons plus a handful of grass carp. These fish have grown on to become stunning, lean fighters which now average 30lb+, with some in the 40lb+ bracket. In November 2005 one and a half tonnes of new fish were added to the existing stock, ranging from 20 to 45lb… with one just tipping 50lb. These fish are of a fast growing strain and have spawned successfully. Finally in November 2006 another half a tonne of similar weight carp were added. There are also around 20 catfish in the lake between 15 and 20lb.
