Brief details of your catches: We were the first ever anglers to enjoy a winter break at Oakview and we loved every minute of it. The fish were jumping all over the place but just weren't biting. Danny caught a nice 26lb 4 oz leather on Thursday night and that made our week as we weren't expecting much.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Two rods patiently on the bait and the thid following signs of activity.

General comments: Highly recommend this venue to anyone. The pictures just don't do it justice and top hospitality from Martin and Shirley. Would have been good to have a few cats to go at and wifi in the lodge (the lodge has everything else). Would love to come back in the summer.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Basic bottom bait tactics. 20mm Quest Rhaja Spice boilies tipped with a sweetcorn pop up over a bed of fish meal/garlic base mix and pellet

Were the facilities what you expected? 2nd visit (this time with family) and facilities as before were of a very high standard and far exceeded Dawn's expectations

Were you happy with them? Very happy. Being able to take shower at 3am after a screaming run and returning to the bivvy fresh for a kip or for the next run is a real luxury. I love the lodge swim

General comments: Another unforgettable trip to Oakview. Fantastic fishing for pristine carp, outstanding hospitality and brilliant facilities. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fortunately enough I have a bait boat so I was able to fish 90% of the lake from the Lodge Swim. Various baits caught including Quest Rahja boilies/halibut pellet/plastic sweetcorn.

General comments: What a wonderful week we had. The accommodation and whole set up was superb. Cannot be faulted. Many thanks to Martin and Shirley as superb hosts. We had exceptionally hot weather which made the fishing slow but improved throughout the week. As I won this holiday I would like to express my thanks to Martin and Shirley and Angling Lines and Quest Baits for brilliant overall service. Would def recommend to anyone wanting to fish in France with friends or family. Even my wife (who never fished) loved it!

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Most fish caught on Fruity Trifle 20mm popped up. Medium size bed of bait and PVA bagged worked the best. Pellets and garlic feast used with boilies.

General comments: First class venue. Martin and Shirley made us feel right at home from the start. The facilities are excellent, offering everything you want and more. In eleven years of coming to France this is the best venue I have been to. Martin and Shirley catered for our every need. They were very helpful and informative. Although Martin is not a carp angler he does listen to any suggestions and acts upon them which was very refreshing. I would like to congratulate Martin and Shirley on an excellent venue and look forward to coming back year after year.

General comments: Great venue for both families and serious carp fishing groups. The lodge is very comfortable, a stones throw from the lake. Sitting on the veranda, waiting for the next take with a glass of wine is millionaires fishing - try it!! The surrounding countryside is fantastic, lots of places to visit.

Were the facilities what you expected? Definately - Actually better. They definately have a woman's touch even down to air freshner in the loo.

Were you happy with them? More than happy - have mentioned to Mart + Shirl about the need for a 'beer' fridge on the veranda!!

Brief details of your catches: out of the three anglers that fished throughout the week the biggest fish weighed in at 23lb commen and was caught by a first time female angler. the other catches consisted of a 19lb mirror also caught by the first time angler, a 19lb 1oz mirror by jake and a 18lb mirror also caught by jake, the third angler caught a 18lb 8oz and a 18lb mirror.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: it is best to stick with the hard baits throughout as there are alot of small fish perminantly nibbling and giving off small line bites. after this week the small fish are eventually going to be netted and will make this venue an overall better water.

Were the facilities what you expected? the facilities that were provided were at a high standerd and alot better then what was expected

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Short hook links to size 8 'MUGGA HOOKS'. 3oz leads. Used bait boat a few times. Bait - 'QUEST' Special Crab, mainly over a bed of hemp, maize + pellet. all hook baits used 7kg QUEST BAIT Special Crab, 4kg home made boilies and 2kg TRIGGA.

Were the facilities what you expected? Yes and more, cabin was very nice, clean on arrival. Beautiful view of lake.

Were you happy with them? Yes. Fishermans dream come true. Bedrooms very clean+ linen. Bathroom lovely and new, nice to have Sky TV for news. Surroundings beautiful.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend? Yes. Very much so.

Brief details of your catches: In two incomplete days we enjoyed six carp to 26lb including a perfect 19lb Common. Jackie (a novice) got the best and smashed her pb. Only one got away after a really hard twenty minute fight.Wind, rain and Sciatica did not help on this trip.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: I found the fish in plant-life and margins where they were repeatedly breaching. Light but concentrated baiting of Quest 10mm Rajah Spice and Fruity Trifle with 20mm hook baits attracted the fish.

General comments: One of the best catches I've had in 25 years of carp fishing when using standard bottom fishing techniques. The average size was very good too. Brief details of your catches: We banked a total of 14 fish in excellent condition, with an average weight of 24 lb. Two superb commons and the rest mirrors with the biggest a lake record at 39lb 8oz.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Fishing tight to the island with a bottom bait on a running ledger produced the best results. The majority of our fish were caught using home mades, fishmeal base flavoured with garlic and chilli tuna, fished over a sizeable bed of pellet and freebies.

General comments: Martin and Shirley have clearly put a great deal of thought and hard work into producing this stunning venue. What did you find were the best tactics/baits: Simple tactics running leads and safety bolt rigs with Quest bollies as bait avalaible from Oakview,the carp are cautious but can with a little effort be tempted

General comments: Perfect trip. The whole trip from start to finish was with out a doubt outstanding. Martin and Shirley have a lake and home to be proud of. The fishing was great fish in mint condition, the beautiful lodge a bonus. This lake will become a great venue as it matures over the years.

What did you find were the best tactics/baits: The lake had been completely frozen over until the day before, so it was a case of watching for signs of activity. A 6-time jumper obliged near the island and he came in 20 minutes later from a Quest Friuty Trifle 20mm ground boilie on a very small bed of house pellet

General comments: Just 2 hours in and I get a new PB and lake record combined. Fabtasic result from a winter day visit to Oakview. I'm still a bit of a novice but the owners and friends were on hand to give help and advice when I asked. Great venue, great owners and great fishing
