Remy - April 2005. Shaun Harrison.
I have just returned with Bernard Sissons from a 7 day carp session in paradise. What constitutes paradise in some eyes may differ from one person to the next. For me it means stunning scenery with no noise or night time light pollution with the least amount of people around as possible. Remy gave me all of this.

Total peace away from the general hustle we all live our lives in. What is more - Remy is stuffed full of gorgeous looking carp that don’t look as though they have been caught before and to top it off, a lot of them are commons.

I loved every minute of it. So much so, Bernard and myself are hoping to return again next month!

The carp responded to every tactic we employed. Big bottom baits, snowmen, pop-up the lot. The weather conditions were far from ideal. We had snow to welcome us upon our arrival and suffered a couple of quite heavy frosts during our short stay. In fact the coldest night produced fish of 26.08 linear, 39.14 mirror and a 33.08 mirror.

I ended the week with 33 carp - 39lb 14oz and Bernard caught 13 carp to 35lb which was a common. Bernard had stuck with ‘big fish tactics’ for the week trying to avoid the run of the mill fish - which are mostly 20’s anyway! Had he fished with smaller baits etc etc then his total would have been similar to mine.

All in all I can not recommend Remy enough. Anyone venturing over there can confidently expect action. Nothing is guaranteed in angling but there would be something seriously amiss if you couldn’t get your bobbins moving a few times at this magnificent venue.

So, if you are a newcomer, or an angler that has been around for a few years and appreciate stunning natural beauty in very quiet surroundings then Remy will suit you just fine.

I will follow these few rushed words during this next week with an article/diary type piece giving a little more detail as to how we set about fishing Remy.

Best Fishes,
Shaun Harrison.
