Fishing at Ko Ha.
Multi-day Safaris.
"World Class Sailfish Action".
(Year round).
Ko Ha consists of five islands 39 miles south east of Phuket and is located off the coast of Trang province. Try popper casting or fly fishing for Giant Trevally, bottom fishing for Grouper
and slow trolling or casting for Sailfish are only some of the things that these pristine waters have to offer. Please note that fly-fishing equipment is not provided and you should therefore bring along your own equipment and flies.
From September through April this area can offer world class action for Sailfish. Slow trolling Tuna belly strips in combination with teasers can produce double figure captures of Sailfish in one afternoon! We normally have the best action on the days around the new moon, and the full moon.
We troll for Tuna, Dorado, Barracuda etc. from Phuket to Ko Ha, reaching the islands just after lunch when the Sailfish action begins. These trips also give you a fantastic opportunity to combine your dream of catching big fish with swimming or snorkeling in crystal clear water,
filled with tropical fish around beautiful coral reefs. (Masks, snorkels and fins are all available onboard).
Fishing Khao Lak offers these multi-day trips 12 months of the year. The trips vary from 2 days/1night to 9 days/8 nights and are recommended for 4 persons maximum. We also offer extended day charters to this destination, starting at 7.00 AM and returning to Phuket around 8.00 PM.

Tour 4:
Fishing at Ko Rok.
Multi-day Safaris.
"Sailfish Capital of Asia".
(Year round).
If your dream fish is a Sailfish, this destination is a “must”. Ko Rok, located 56 miles south east of Phuket, consists of 2 islands and has been mentioned in several sailing magazines
because of its beautiful white beaches, the crystal clear water, the fantastic reef and excellent shelter for the night.
The coral reef on the east side of Ko Rok Nok is superb for snorkeling, and with a little luck you might catch a lobster for your dinner! This destination is known from fishing magazines under the name “Longnose Island”, because of the impressive numbers of Sailfish located there. The local record of 24 Sailfish on one boat in an afternoon says it all.
The fact being that the Sailfish in this area aren't very active before afternoon, so anglers usually target some of the many other species like King Mackerel, Wahoo, Barracuda, Dorado, Giant Trevally, Rainbow Runner and Tuna in the morning. In the afternoon the target is Sailfish, and the most common techniques used are slow trolling with Tuna belly strip bait, or live bait. For the fly fisherman, this destination is "right up there" regarding the chance of hooking up with a Sailfish.
The technique used when targeting Sailfish on fly-fishing equipment is to troll a spread of "Bird Teasers" and "Daisy Chains" until the Sailfish appears, then to send back the fly to the curious fish. Please note that fly-fishing equipment is not provided and you should therefore bring along your own equipment and flies.
Bottom fishing at night at this destination often provide smaller species of Shark, including Black-Tip Reef Shark, Bull Shark and Nurse Shark, along with many different species of excellent table fish.
A bonus while fishing this destination is a stop at the island group Ko Ha. The crystal clear waters of up to 60 meters of visibility lend a fantastic opportunity to swim, snorkel and view the many species of marine life present there - yet another way of enjoying what the Andaman Sea has to offer!
Fishing Khao Lak offers multi-day trips to Ko Rok 12 months of the year. Trips vary from 2 days/1 night to 6 days/5 nights and are recommended for 4 persons maximum.
All trips include: Pick up from your hotel at 7.00 – 7.30 AM on the first day, and transfer to "Gecko". Tour 5:
Fishing the Twin Seamounts.
Multi-day Safaris.
Our Secret Destination!
"Deep Water Action for Big Fish".
(October through April).
The Twin Seamounts south west of Phuket are a new destination for Fishing Khao Lak and "Gecko". No other boat out of Phuket has ever fished this area before. We troll for Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, Sailfish and Marlin on the way out to the seamounts, and reach them by the evening. We then anchor on the seamounts that rise from a depth of over 1000 meters, into two peaks only 67 and 75 meters below the surface.
This huge depth difference causes a natural upwelling of squid, plankton and other micro organisms that attracts pelagic fish species, as well as big bottom feeders. Everything from Ruby Snapper and Groupers, to Wahoo, Dogtooth Tuna, Yellow-Fin Tuna and Sharks can be found here. The current is important when fishing the Twin Seamounts and the best fishing here is during the half moon phase, when the water is not running too strong.
The fishing is done all through the night with baited hooks, in combination with Tuna chumming that attracts the big predators into the area. All trolling, jigging and bottom fishing equipment is provided but you are welcome to bring your own, if you wish to do so.
Fishing Khao Lak offers multi-day trips to The Twin Seamounts from mid-October to mid May.
Trips vary from 2 days/1 night to 9 days/8 nights and are recommended for 4 persons maximum.
All trips include: Pick up from your hotel at 7.00 – 7.30 AM on the first day, and transfer to "Gecko". All meals, soft drinks, fruit and snacks, accommodation on the boat, all fishing tackle, bait, lures and full guide assistance are provided. Return to the jetty at 5.30 PM on the last day, where the minibus will take you back to your hotel. This itinerary can change slightly, as it may be possible on occasions to depart from, or return to Kata, Karon, Patong or Khao Lak Beaches.

Tour 6:
Fishing the Similan Islands.
Multi-day Safaris.
"Multi Species Action in the Andaman Sea".
(October through April).
The Similan Islands, a marine national park, consist of 9 limestone islands and are located 55 miles north west of Phuket. This destination is listed in the top ten diving spots in the world,
but also offers tremendous fishing for all species in the Andaman Sea. The relatively shallow water close to the islands is home to Sailfish, Wahoo, Narrow-barred Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Giant Trevally, Blue Finned Trevally, Golden Trevally, Dorado, Queen-Fish, Cobia,
Rainbow Runner, several species of Tuna and juvenile Marlin.
The seamount, 14 miles west of the islands, is known as the hunting grounds for big Marlin, Sailfish, Wahoo, Yellow-Fin Tuna, Dogtooth Tuna and Sharks.
This is a trip that gives you a fantastic opportunity to combine your dream of big fish with swimming or snorkeling in crystal clear water filled with tropical fish and beautiful coral reefs.
The evening can be spent with a barbecue on one of the many white powdery beaches, or bottom fishing over a reef for some of the superb table fish that the area has to offer.
If you are a “Hard Core” angler, the Similan Islands has some of the best Shark fishing in the region. Massive Tiger Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Mako Sharks and Bull Sharks are considered normal, but other species are also found.
An adventure safari while on a 4 day/3 night trip or longer to this destination can include a stop at Ko Ta Chai, a remote island 31 miles north of the Similan Islands, close to the Burmese border. Popper casting or fly fishing for Giant Trevally, bottom fishing for Grouper
and slow trolling or casting for Sailfish, are only some of the options
that these pristine waters have to offer. Please note that fly-fishing equipment is not provided
and you should therefore bring along your own equipment and flies.
Another possibility while on a 4 day/3 night trip or longer to this destination, is the 1000-2000 meter drop-off west of the islands. This area is an overnight trip from the Similan Islands,
but well worth trying. We have had some very big Black and Blue Marlin hitting our lures
whilst doing the crossing to the Andaman Islands, and deep jigging and trolling here has produced very big Dogtooth Tuna during the last season.
Fishing Khao Lak offers multi-day trips to the Similan Islands during the months of November through April. Trips vary from 2 days/1 night to 6 days/5 nights and are recommended for 4 persons maximum.
All trips include: Pick up from your hotel at 7.00 – 7.30 AM on the first day, and transfer to "Gecko". All meals, soft drinks, fruit and snacks, accommodation on the boat, all fishing tackle, bait, lures and full guide assistance are provided. Tour 7:
Fishing the Surin Islands.
Multi-day Safaris.
"Popper Casting and Sailfish Action on the Burmese Border".
(October through April).
The Surin Islands are a marine national park consisting of two islands,
located 50 miles north of the Similan Islands. They have been known for years for the fantastic diving and snorkeling, but only within the last few years, have sport fishing boats
started visiting these waters on a regular basis.
The area around these islands is extremely good for popper casting for Giant Trevally, and the area between the Surin- and Similan Islands is a known “hot spot” for Black Marlin,
Wahoo, Dorado and smaller Tuna.
In the early mornings and late afternoons the area west of the Surin Islands is well worth a try.
This area often produces multiple hook-ups with Sailfish, and it is therefore also possible to target Sailfish on fly-fishing equipment, at this destination. Please note that fly-fishing equipment is not provided and you should therefore bring along your own equipment and flies.
Another possibility while on a 5 day/4 night trip or longer to this destination, is the 1000-2000 meter drop-off west of the islands. This area is an overnight trip from the Surin Islands,
but well worth trying. We have had some very big Black and Blue Marlin hitting our lures
whilst doing the crossing to the Andaman Islands, and deep jigging and trolling here has produced very big Dogtooth Tuna during the last season.
Fishing Khao Lak offers multi-day trips to the Surin Islands during the months of November through April. Trips vary from 4 days/3 nights to 6 days/5 nights
