Dec 2018
Lake netting and stocking

The lake was netted in November and showed approximately 400 carp - the biggest was a 57lb mirror and 55lb common.

The average size is around 30lb, and about 50 carp over 40lb.

I then received an additional 150 carp one week ago. Mostly mirrors between 22-33lb.
The average size was around 26lb - including some cracking looking linears.

Weed and Water Levels

As with many lakes in France this summer, battling the weed beds has been an ongoing task due to the perfect conditions - the heat wave we have experienced over in the UK has been much the same in France too.

Thibault has been clearing swims periodically over the last month and I have attached photos from today of swims 1 and 3.

The water levels remain lower than usually expected in normal Summers - between 2-2.5ft in front of swims 1, 2 and 3. Usually we would expect to find around 3ft of depth. This does not appear to have affected fishing though as you can see below!

The carp photos below are from swim 1 last week.

Nov 2017
November stocking

A beautiful autumnal morning to net some small stock ponds at Salles.  We netted 23 carp, nearly all commons between 13-26lb, and placed them into the main lake with further similar stockings planned.

This very natural reedlined lake offers plenty of safe haven for the carp, because of this the carp have been difficult to catch so we hope that stocking additional carp will create the competition needed for food and increase catch rates.
