I don\u2019t want them critically balanced as larger fish can have trouble actually getting hold of a critically balanced bait as the carp\u2019s body mass will create a bit of an undertow thus moving the bait from where it thought it was (all carp have a blind spot, the larger they are the greater the blind spot) and therefore not ending up in their mouth every time.<\/p>\n<p>So, here is my simple way of making my own individualised custom hook baits.<\/p>\n<p>All that is required for a slow sinker is&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tub of paste<\/li>\n<li>Bottle of Glug<\/li>\n<li>Egg<\/li>\n<li>Pop-Up mix<\/li>\n<li>Fork<\/li>\n<li>Spoon<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"attachment_20648\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20648\" class=\"wp-image-20648 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/2.jpg\" alt=\"Making your own carp fishing wafter baits\" width=\"600\" height=\"443\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/2-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/2-150x111.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20648\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Break the egg into a bowl and add some Glug to counteract for the added pop up mix which will dilute the taste a little. In this case I am adding 10 ml of glug as I want my hook bait to give off plenty of food signals in this case. These are barbel hook baits I am producing but exactly the same applies to carp baits.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20649\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Now mix the liquid into the paste using the fork until you end up with a very soft paste<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20651\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Add some pop-up mix a bit at a time, too much in one go will make it difficult to mix properly and evenly<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20652\" style=\"width: until you have a useable dough ball which allows the hook baits to be easily rolled.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20653\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" 4 hook baits at a time<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20654\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20654\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Add the paste balls to boiling water and boil for between 1 and 3 minutes depending upon what size you have rolled. 2 minutes is a good in between if like me you \u00a0like to have an assortment of sizes and shapes of hook bait. I purposely never roll hook baits perfectly round, this is why I hand roll rather than use a bait table.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_20655\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20655\" class=\"size-full wp-image-20655\" src=\"https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/10.jpg\" alt=\"Making your own carp fishing wafter baits\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/10.jpg 600w, https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/10-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.anglinglines.com\/blog\/wp-content\/images\/2014\/07\/10-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20655\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Pour the boiled baits into a sieve over the sink to get rid of the water leaving just the baits behind.<\/p>\n<p>Lay them outside on a towel to dry &#8211; we have been having perfect weather for this lately (July 2014).<\/p>\n<p>Once dry you can add more glug if you want or leave them as they are. A bit of a glug coating will stabilise them a little longer\u00a0 but if you want to be really safe without worrying about them going off, simply pop them in the freezer and just take what you need.<\/p>\n<p>Put some aside to see how long they last out of the freezer, you may be surprised.<\/p>\n<p><strong>POP UPS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you want to produce your own pop ups follow the same procedure with\u00a0 just half a tub of paste so that more pop-up mix is used.<\/p>\n<p>There you are a quick and simple method of producing exactly what you want, when you want it.
