Lake to Re-Open, 6th Aug
The last dead carp to surface was 8 days ago (July 28th) so the owner, Bernard, is confident the problems are now over. Around 40 carp have died, which is of course a real disappointment. However, this represents a relatively small proportion of the very high stocking density the lake contains (that's why it's so popular as a runs water) and Bernard is confident the fishing will be unaffected. Consequently the lake will re-open on the 23rd of August.
Bernard has asked us to pass on his thanks to the groups who have moved off the lake over the last few weeks. It's been extremely upsetting for him and he's grateful that everyone has been so understanding.
As always, we will keep you updated of any further developments, but let's hope this is the end of a distressing period in Beaurepaire's history.

Beaurepaire Update, 1st Aug
Beaurepaire has been closed for the last two weeks after several dead carp were found in the margins. Whilst the rate of deaths has slowed significantly, Bernard, the owner, found another dead carp yesterday. This means that in total around 30+ carp have died and we now sadly believe it may have been a virus.
Bernard is still awaiting the results of a post mortem on the dead carp, but is quite rightly putting the health of his carp first and wants to give the lake a rest before re-opening. Reluctantly he has therefore asked us to cancel the next 2 weeks anglers. Both groups have been contacted and offered alternative venues or a full refund.
Fingers X'd that the worst is now over. We will keep you updated.

A New Lake Record, 9th Jun
A huge well done to Cliff Jones who came away with the new lake record this May, weighing in at 56lb 1oz.
'After a few beers some silly bugger suggested that if one of us were to catch a lake record they should be made to streak the full length of the far bank and I can tell you now it’s a long way just wearing your boots and hat with paparazzi chasing you.'
Rather you than us Cliff!
Cliff also caught another fifty earlier on in the week, this one weighed in at 52lb 8oz.
'This one turned up two days earlier! I've waited 35 years to catch a 50 then just like buses two turn up at once. Our group has been going to Beuarepire for 4 years now and we have seen these fish putting the weight on and we are all convinced the lake will produce a 60lb carp within two years.'
