My son and I caught 14 fish with the biggest being the new lake record at 82lb 8oz for my son and a 66lb 10oz for myself. Recommend the venue all day long. Angling Lines made it very easy to book with varied ways to pay to make it easier.

A stunning, peaceful & tranquil lake. We feel extremely privileged to have caught some of the most stunning carp I’ve ever caught in the UK or Europe. Highly recommend booking via Angling Lines, we had to make many adjustments, all of which was dealt swiftly and accurately without disruption or delay by Jo & the team.

Common Questions About Carp Fishing Holidays in France
Choosing the right carp lake in France comes down to five things: difficulty level, average fish size, type of holiday (social or exclusive), facilities, and drive time from the port. If you're less experienced, look for a water with good catch rates and an attentive bailiff. If a big fish challenge is the goal, some of the best French carp lakes offer 60lb–70lb+ fish but fewer runs. All 50+ venues on Angling Lines are closely vetted, include real angler reviews, and can be filtered by fish size, group size, travel distance and much more. If you'd like personal advice, we're always happy to help.
Yes, Channel crossings are included as standard when you book through Angling Lines (though if you'd prefer to make your own travel arrangements, we're happy to accommodate that too). When getting a quote on our website, you simply select your preferred route and crossing times - everything is booked together in one place. We work with P&O, Brittany Ferries, DFDS and Le Shuttle. Each venue page shows the best crossing options with drive times so you can make an informed choice.
For lakes in northern France, Dover–Calais (90 mins) or Le Shuttle (35 mins) are usually the best options. For central and western France, Brittany Ferries from Portsmouth to Caen or St Malo are recommended to cut down drive time - the overnight Friday crossing is particularly popular with anglers wanting to arrive rested.
We offer various payment options, which allow you to spread the cost of the holiday if required. Find the payment plan that suits you below;
- 100% Payment - you can of course pay in full at the point of booking.
- 50% deposit now, remaining 50% ten weeks before you go.
- 25% deposit now, 25% a few months later and the final 50% ten weeks before you go.
- Monthly instalments - spread the cost of your holiday equally, to be completed ten weeks before you go.
If you are booking a holiday on behalf of a group, you also have the option to split the cost of the holiday between everyone and we will then send them an email reminder when their payment is due, hopefully taking the hassle away from you, the lead booker.
If you come with us you don't need a licence to fish on 99% of the waters we run. If you do we'll sort it out for you - so you have no additional admin to do. The reason the majority of the French carp lakes that we represent DO NOT require anglers to hold a 'Permit de Pêche' or 'Carte de Peche', is because they are private venues on private land. If you were choosing to fish public waters, then you would need to cover yourself with a licence, which can be purchased here: www.cartedepeche.fr
Even if you speak no French at all the language need not be a problem. Most venues are English spoken and because we have booked everything in advance there should be no real problems for you to contend with. You will always find the owners of the lakes helpful and welcoming and we remain only a phone call away at any time.
Yes. Your money is fully protected in two ways. First, all payments are held in our own bank account and never transferred to the lake owner until after your holiday - so if anything were to happen to us, your money would be returned to you in full. Second, Angling Lines is a member of ABTOT (The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust), which provides independent financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018. This is the same level of protection you'd expect from any reputable travel company, and something you should always look for before paying a deposit to any holiday provider.
