About the Lake
Blue Lake is 15 acres and roughly triangular in shape with swims cut into the tree line. The water is crystal clear and bright blue as it reflects the clear blue skies. Fishing France in such attractive surroundings as this is a rare opportunity.
It’s let on an individual or exclusive basis with room for up to 10 anglers when booked exclusively for your group and 8 anglers when booked non-exclusive (so as to allow space to move around if you wish).
The lake varies from 3ft at its shallowest running to over 15ft at its South West end. It’s a fascinating mixture of bars and areas of sand, rocks, gravel, clay and silt - a real maze of features guaranteed to keep anglers happy whilst testing their skills. The weedy areas tend to be located at the shallow end, in the bays and along the southern bank, providing holding areas for wary carp and giving you areas to stalk them.
There are 11 swims. They are 10 large flat double swims and a single swim hidden away on the point. All are surrounded by mature trees to provide cool shady areas for you to relax in while anticipating that smoking run. Many of the swims also have room to put a caravan/campervan behind.
Please note that swim 2 has some sharp rocks/snags in places and so care must be taken to land the fish around these. This is something we are looking to improve upon.
The gravel track runs around gives easy access to the swims and there is parking adjacent to all of them. The whole complex is fenced and gated.
We wouldn't describe Blue Lake as a difficult water, however it is still a decent sized lake and the carp are big and therefore wise - you'll need to be wary of how much disturbance you make on the bank as the fish can easily move off into other bays and areas of the lake.
There are no issues with poisson chat, but some anglers have reported crayfish. This is often in the summer months when they become more active. It is best to go prepared - you can find lots of information here for combatting crayfish in France. Wrapping your baits is a tried and tested method to use when crays are active.
Whilst the owners are very knowledgeable and will help when asked, there is no resident bailiff and therefore anglers are encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of information available on the website before their trip.
