News from Boux lake

Aug 2017

Weed Development, 1st Aug

We have had patches of weed develop very quickly over the past week, I have included photos below, you can see two large patches particularly to the end of the wooded bank and corner of the lake. Chris estimates that the weed is covering maybe two acres of the fifteen acre lake.

We do not anticipate that this will affect the fishing, over the coming weeks we have smaller groups of up to 4 on the lake so it should be manageable but we obviously want to keep you updated.

If anything more develops we will update this section.

An Update , 8th May

The fishing was difficult from 15 to 22 April, only 6 fish (2 fishermen) taken for the biggest 23kg (50lb) all taken to the pink pop up.

For the week after (2 fishermen) the same for 7 fish and the biggest 23.6 kg (52lb) to boilies and especially to the tigernuts. For this week it is much better - 15 fish for the bigger 25.5kg, using tigernuts and boilie.

The question is that the carp have not yet spawned, but it will not be long. But I keep you informed at the time of the spawning.

A New Lake Record, 8th Jun

Congratulations to Stephen Marks, who now holds the lake record at Boux with this 62lb mirror.

'I have just finished my week at boux which was last week and wanted to contact you guys with some great news. Although the first 3 days we had had nothing but spawning and a very quiet lake. Come the Friday I was finally into my first and only fish but to my amazement was greeted with a huge head and mouth of a 62lb mirror.

I don't recall seeing one at this size before and think it could be a record, after looking back on the sites photos I think the same fish was caught last June at 58lb.'
