Details of your catches:

38 carp, including 6 x 40's ( )2 x 46lb Commons and a 52lb Mirror.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Carp not yet on the feed. Bright baits, chasing the fish around the lake worked well.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes.

Were you happy with them?

Yes, much improved.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes.

General Comments:

More work needed on woods bank. ALL swims, especially the middle two swims, need branches trimming to allow distance casting to far margin. Also when playing fish along the bank, you have to kneel down to avoid catching line on trees....

Details of your catches:

I had 27 carp which incuded mirrors of 51lb 11oz, 50lb 4oz, 49lb 14oz, 49lb 3oz, 31lb 12oz, 34lb 8oz, 35lb 15oz, 31lb 10oz, 36lb 10oz, 31lb 3oz, 31lb 1oz, 33lb 1oz and 30lb 1oz, one 30lb common with the rest being mostly upper twenties.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

I varied my tactics throughout the week. I started off on a single Quality Baits 18mil HG42 cast onto a bed of bait around 100 yards in open water. The carp became wise to this so I spread a bed of Quality Baits HG42 18mil boilies with a throwing stick over quite a large area and pva bagged 6 crumbed boilies with a bottom baits in the middle of the area. This method produced most fish. I used around 18 kilo of boilies to keep the fish interested.

Were the facilities what you expected?

As described

Were you happy with them?

General Comments:

At the beginning of the week the crayfish were very active and it was a case of fishing the deeper waters in the middle of the lake to avoid them. As the week went on they seemed to become less active and I was able to explore some of the margins and pick up the extra fish. Boux will become one of Angling Lines premier waters and I am sure it will be fully booked in the near future. If you are planning on fishing Boux I would book early as there will be a lot of disappointed anglers that miss the opportunity to get onto this magnificent big fish water.

Details of your catches:

Paul Brookes had 5 carp which included a 40lb 4oz common and a mirror of 39lb 14oz. Paul Cooper had 28 carp which included, commons of 45lb, 42lb 11oz, 38lb 8oz, 39lb 10oz, and mirrors of 37lb 5oz, 32lb 3oz, 28lb, 32lb 5oz, 28lb 6oz, 35lb 6oz, 28lb 6oz, 40lb 13oz, 42lb 14oz, 40lb 4oz, 46lb 9oz, 27lb 6oz 32lb 14oz, with the rest being in the low twenties.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We were both using Quality Baits HG42 in 18mil and got through around 25kilo, along with a sack of pellet and 20 kilo of well prepared hemp. We baited 2 areas around 100 yards and fished either meshed bottom baits or plastic pop ups due to a problem we found with the crayfish. The Crayfish were active due to the high temperatures and high pressure. Steady feed throughout the week produced the fish. The margins were left untouched due to the amount of crayfish playing with the baits.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, toilet, shower, fridge and bait freezer located at the farm a short drive away. Supermarket, restaurants and bars only 2k away.

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes. This will be one of the top waters in the Angling Lines list of lakes.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes

General Comments:

Boux is one of the best carp waters in France and is already producing some massive catches of large carp to well over 50lb. I note that on a previous catch report the mention of rats. The only wild life that I saw was hedgehogs foraging at night around the bivvy, not even a mouse. The banks are spotless and the weed in the lake at present is non existent. The toilet block is a short drive from the lake where there are freezer and fridge facilities along with a welcome hot shower. The venue is situated miles from any town or busy roads, and the only noises that you encounter are the sounds of local farm tractors. It is truly a wonderful location and a joy to fish.
