Details of your catches:

It was a tough weeks fishing with ever changing weather conditions but we managed 10 carp to 47 1/2 lb. 2 x 40, 3 x 30, 4 x 20 and one double.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

The first 2 fish were caught on a Ronnie Rig using CC Moore Cork Ball Pop Ups but due to the Cray fish we swapped onto Korda plastic dumbbells which caught the rest (both yellow and pink). All fish were caught in open water keeping the bait going in. As soon as the sun was out for a few hours we would get a run.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes good as always

Details of your catches:

Lodge 2: Ian and Scott (8 fish between us) Ian - 42lb Sturgeon, 35lb 8oz common, 31lb 8oz mirror, 31lb 8oz common, 30lb common, 24lb mirror and a 24lb common from the river. Scott - 24lb common Lodge 1: Dave and Bob (11 fish between them) Dave - 42lb Sturgeon, 41lb common, 40lb 2oz mirror, 38lb 12oz mirror, 30lb 2oz common, 29lb mirror, 27lb 8oz mirror, 24lb 8oz mirror Bob - 43lb 8oz mirror, 18lb mirror, 13lb mirror

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Bottom baits, wafters and pop ups worked and the colour pink on baits were accounting for many of the fish caught. We were all reserved with baiting due to the spawning fish but used boilies over particle to margins in lodge one and open water and margins from lodge two. Increase baiting after each fish and build your swim, most of us all caught off all three rods. Be prepared in some instances to sit on your hands and most bites we had come after 15 hours plus of the baits being in.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Shower / Toilet and cabin on site were brilliant we all were able to shower and have lots of hot water. There was a tall fridge freezer and a seperate bait freezer which was great. Everywhere was clean and tidy and the lodges on each island were a god send. Two beds in each and lots of storage. The fridge was brilliant in each lodge with lighting too was great.

Were you happy with them?

More than happy Bruno was a top lad who was very helpful and on hand by a quick call if needed. Nothing was too much trouble, he left us to enjoy our week and was not intrusive at all. Wi-Fi was a bonus in the lodges and there was a decent tackle shop in the village called prestige tackle. Everywhere clean and tidy.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes I would recommend this venue, I knew of it when I fished Molyneux previously on another booking. We would all like to come back again as the lake, surroundings the location and ease from Calais, a passionate hard working guy in Bruno who makes the stay an even more welcoming one with advice and areas to target. It is very quiet and peaceful and secure and that is all part of the experience for me not just the fishing, it ticks all the boxes and I cannot fault it in any way.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

I have been on 4 trips with Angling Lines over the years and they make it easier for me to coordinate and book my group of mates in for a holiday. It makes booking the venue and ferry together so easy and they are always pleasant on the phones and have excellent online comms via a customer area and emails.

General Comments:

Having been on 3 previous trips with Angling Lines and having been to the area to fish Molyneux I knew the location, scenery and peace and tranquility would be a real hit with my mates when I chose to pick a venue and they were not disappointed. Bruno greeted us and had our bait prepared ready for a good walk round the lake and the excitement was building. We all settled into the lodges ready to commence fishing. However, it was more than a fishing break but a holiday with a group of lads that have families and jobs and it was a chance to escape it all for a week and have some much needed bank time, beers and laughs together. Fishing was on and off with the fish in some instances thinking of spawning and were spawning during our stay, we had to plod along and persevere. There were groups of fish boshing out in the shallows and we were hopeful to pick up something during the week. Bruno was helpful and always a phone call away, he allowed us to feel welcome and be of assistance if required without being intrusive. The lake is in a picturesque secure location with Pacy Sur eure being a 10 minute drive away. You are left at a lake with no road noise and only sounds of the wildlife. During the week I rested my spot and for a few hours went down the river and it only took an hour and I was into a hard fighting common carp on the river. After a tough battle on a stalking rod and light tackle I slipped it over the net cord a 24lb common. An emotional moment as I have always challenged myself to catch a river carp and I achieved that milestone. During the week I witnessed all my mates catch which was good, a new p.b for a mate, another mate having a good couple of 40s and rediscovering his love for carp fishing, the sturgeon coming out twice in the week and myself completing a challenge of a river carp and catching a sturgeon. All the fish were cracking no matter what the size. This will live long in the memory and will be one of many more trips to come. Thank you Bruno and Deux Iles, hopefully see you in a few years time.
