Fishing was tough due to the cold nights and the pressure but we did manage carp up to 45lb and a lake record catfish of 70lb, Kara broke her french PB carp of 45.10, the same fish I caught two years ago at just over 43lb, all the fish were in great condition

First listen to Gary really important we found short German rigs and critically balanced wafter hookbaits worked for us

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes very clean and tidy, plenty of hot water for a nice shower had all the cooking utensils for making your meals and had english and french sockets for charging phones bait boats and head torches

Were you happy with them?

Yes perfect for us, never had a issue

We did, they were on south lake the same week and we have booked again

Yes for sure, I like that you can make monthly payments for your holiday

General Comments:

Was a tough week fishing but what a really enjoyable week, Gary and Angeline are first class always happy to help they put on a really fantastic BBQ on the thursday night. Gary always popped around in morning and evening for a chat and a laugh and bringing the really friendly venue dog piper along to say hello. Great venue and booked again next year

28 fish in total. 25 carp from 8lb 5oz to 50lb 10 oz. Two small catfiish and one at 35lb 8oz

Fished spinners or d rigs. DNA the bug wafters over bug boilies

General Comments:

Gary and Ange made you most welcome on arrival and that never changed. Ange's food was amazing along with Gary's Thursday night BBQ. You turn up as customers and leave as friends, a wonderful couple

Various 20lb Common's and Mirror's and a couple of 30lb Mirrors and 1 x 35.4lb Cat.

Short rigs, bottom baits and small pva bags.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes the facilities were as expected.

Were you happy with them?

Yes we were happy with them. The lodge was very clean but compact. It had a decent shower and had all the equipment you needed. We also managed to break the bed which Gary and Ange changed the next day and is a very comfortable bed.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes definitely. Two really lovely lakes in a great location. Good mobile signal. Supermarket not that far away.

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes definitely. The food package is well worth having as Ange is an excellent chef. All the food we had was of top quality and the waiter was okay! :-)

General Comments:

Gary and Ange are great hosts. Very easy going and laid back. We are novice anglers and Gary spent a lot of time and effort to educate us and get some fish on the bank. The weather was atrocious which didn't make the fishing easy. We didn't fish any nights but we did fish five full days from dawn till dusk and we have booked in for next year. I'm sure Gary's looking forward to our return! We also intend to work on our photos!

Details of your catches:

We had a brilliant weeks fishing landed 52 fish in total. Loads of 20s 30s 39lb mirror and 40lb mirror. Caught a new lake record cat fish at 65lb, total weight for the week of 1319 lb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We had all our fish on Gary's own bait - garlic and squid. All bottom baits nice and simple over pellet and particle, also supplied by Gary

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were spot on, everything you need for a weeks fishing, very clean and tidy. Accommodation even though we didn't stay in the lodge, the bedrooms were very tidy and clean 5-5 rating
