My son and iI caught 37 fish over the week, days only! (too hot to sleep in bivvy at night). The 37 fish consisted of 4 x 40lb+, 16 x 30lb+, 12 x 20lb+, 4 x doubles and 1 x 6lb carp. Amongst all of them were 2 x Ghosties, 1 x Linear(zip) and 1 x Leather carp.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We used simple knotless knot coated braid rigs with a blow out ring on a size 4 korda wide gape barbless hook. Fishing 18mm mainline Essential Cell and nutrabaits Trigga boilies over house pellet and particle.

Were the facilities what you expected?

The facilities were excellent, wifi was good. Shower and toilet 5 star.

Were you happy with them?

Overall very very happy with all facilities.

Already recommended to a number of my fishing friends and family.

General Comments:

We had an excellent weeks fishing right from the very start. New PB's for both of us even with the amazing very hot weather. The fish were in superb condition and very hard fighting. The owners Lionel and Veronique were fantastic, on hand to all our needs and absolutely fantastic host's. Lionel is an experienced angler and knows his lake and fish so listen to his advice, he will put you on the fish. Already checking my dates for booking next year. Can't wait to return. Highly Recommended.

27 carp to just over 40lb, including 17 over 30lb. I only fished nights as we were on a family holiday and exploring during the days.

Yes, very clean and comfortable with everything we needed. The girls would have liked TV but I'm glad there wasn't one.

General Comments:

Had an fantastic break, the fishing was excellent. The accomodation was lovely and Lionel and Veronique are amazing hosts. Very friendly and very accommodating. An excellent venue for a family holiday.

48 fish were caught in total in 6 days of fishing, ranging between 8lbs-42lbs. We had 12 fish above 30lbs, 1 above 40lbs and 2 absolutely stunning ghost koi at 20lbs.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes very much, rustic French charm, superb size for 2 adults and 2 children

Were you happy with them?

Very happy, spacious, clean, comfortable, something for everyone, whether fishing or not. The children had their own private play area (swings, slide, trampoline and many toys and games). It was all in a lovely French countryside setting.

Yes I would 100% recommend friends and family staying at Heart lake.

General Comments:

Let me start with my summary/overview: Get Yourself Booked On. We absolutely loved it at Heart Lake. I’ve fished all over the world and it’s actually quite hard to find somewhere that has a true sense of privacy, but Heart Lake has it. Another big bonus is that it is only 10 minutes away from the local big town, which has all the facilities you’ll ever need and more. This venue is ideal for one or two carp fishing families, or a group of two or three anglers. There’s plenty of fish to go at too. Our catch report is so low because we didn’t fish at night and were often away from the lake during the day as well on days out. Hosts Lionel and Veronique are really superb and offer the perfect balance between being there if you need them, or leaving you alone and private, if that’s what you want too. Lionel is also a very experienced carp angler and well worth listening to. We are already trying to make arrangements to go back, and you can’t say more than that. Pete Castle (and family)
