Details of your catches:

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
A variety of tactics worked for different anglers. I'd say the most successful bait was small fruity pop ups. The far margin was the most productive area, although we went with an open mind and we did have fish from open water spots.
Were the facilities what you expected?
This was our second trip to Old Oaks. The last time was in 2009. The facilities are exactly the same. They are adequate with a good freezer, fridge and a lovely warm shower and the BBQ outside.
Were you happy with them?
Although they are fine, it was a shame that nothing had been updated since our last trip. I would have liked to see some updated fish photos on the wall. A couple of suggestions to make the area better would also be: A canopy over the bench near the bbq - we had quite a bit of rain and it made it difficult to use this area. A log book in the hut - just so you could get instant feedback from the previous fishermen
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes, of course!
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
YES! Angling lines were professional throughout. Love the ease of use of the website and the information available.
General Comments:
Like I said in the feedback above. This was our second visit. We previously came in 2009 and had a fairly successful week. This time we had an extra angler. It was good to be back on Old Oaks. Like us the fish were five years older, a bit wiser and a lot fatter. *Angling Lines note* You can read Simon's full (and v. interesting article!) in the Old Oaks article section.

A tough week's fishing during the hottest week of the year so far. The venue is amazingly well stocked with hard fighting fish in great condition. Mehdi the owner is top notch!

Details of your catches:
Fishing was slow, but we all caught. 41lb to Kev, 35lb for Andy and a 33lb for me.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Various tactics worked. But generally within 2m of the far bank.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Great facilities, everything you could ever need.
Were you happy with them?
Yes. the lodge could do with a little TLC and a lock on the toilet door!
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Definitely a yes. We are already planning out return visit!! We found the owner Mehdi very welcoming and friendly.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Definitely, great service as usual !!
General Comments:
Slight issue with the poisson chats in peg 5, but I think that was more to do with my liver flavoured baits and the weather! This was easily sorted by meshing baits and switching to a fruit bait.

Details of your catches:
2 x doubles 12 x 30s 8 x 40s 2 x 50s In all - 10 fish from swim 1, 4 from swim 2, 3 from swim 3, 4 from swim 4 and 4 from swim 5.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Generally, light loose feed and single cell boilie topped with pink, fished as close as possible to far bank. Swim one fished best for most of the week as the wind was blowing down the lake in that direction. Friday all changed when wind reversed and other swims produced more.
Were the facilities what you expected?
Yes, having fished the venue before we knew what to expect.
Were you happy with them?
Yes, improved lighting inside cabin. Good shower and toilet. Good large freezer to store bait.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes, excellent place to enjoy a weeks fishing.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes, first class service. Everything went as planned, from booking to ferry times and directions to venue. No problems at all, well done to Angling Lines.
General Comments:
Good to see Mehdi again, still as enthusiastic as when we first met him in 2009. Filled us in on best tactics and areas to fish. Entertained us with his casting exploits stories. Was on hand if needed but lets you get on with it. Great chap. Venue just as last time but now the fish are BIGGER!
