Were the facilities what you expected?
yes, although didnt shower, there were complaints from other anglers that the shower water was not clean and smelt. *** Angling Lines note; We have bought up the issue of the facilities being dirty with the owner. He assures us that from now on they will be inspected and cleaned much more regularly. The water on site is pumped from an underground well and whilst it is perfectly clean & safe to use it does sometimes have a metallic odour and slight orange tinge. This is because the surrounding rock strata are rich in iron deposits, but to repeat, it is perfectly clean & safe to use. It's the water taint which leaves chestnut (brown) marks on the shower etc. They have got plans approved to build new facilities with mains water but this depends on finances, so we have no definite date for this, but in the meantime they plan to re-paint and re-tile the existing facilities. ***
Were you happy with them?
toilet was clean, hire boat was good with life jacket.

Details of your catches:
2 sturgeon - 35lb 10 and 36lb 4 The fishing was very challenging. I had a total of 8 runs 1 of which I played for about 65 minutes !! unfortunately after all that hard work the line broke and in the end I only landed 2 fish.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
I used pineapple boilies over trout pellets and seed based particles. I was using a bait boat not a row boat as most of the other anglers were using.
Were the facilities what you expected?
In fact the facilities were better than we had expected after having read some of the previous reports.
Were you happy with them?
Yes although they are in need of some attention which we have been told is going to happen over the winter period.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes. Although Frank was not at the lake the week we were there, we were very well looked after by Dorita. It was a pleasure to meet her and I thoroughly enjoyed our chats - a good opportunity to practice my French language skills !

General Comments:
As I said above the fishing was very challenging. This is a very old lake and there are many trees surrounding the banks, there are also a lot of hidden obstructions in the water which the fish are aware - and quite clever to take advantage of - hence the broken lines. (perhaps some of these should be cleared) Having had the one fish on for so long it was quite an adrenalin rush and I would quite happily recommend anybody who is looking for the 'big one' to fish this lake and accept that, at times, you are going to be snagged and have line breaks but it is worth it bearing in mind what you get out of catching a big fish.(However I would advise using abrasion resistant lines !)

Were the facilities what you expected?
The facilities were extremely poor.
Were you happy with them?
The condition of the shower room was dirty, the floor was crawling with ants, the water you showered in was smelly and dirty. The toilet was in the same room as shower. There were over 20 people on the lake so you can imagine the kind of wait you could have for the toilet or shower. The outside water tap water was brown & the lake water was probably cleaner. I would not recommend using this water for anything other than watering the plants! Overall very disappointed with the venue. *** Angling Lines note; We have bought up the issue of the facilities being dirty with the owner. Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
NO I have been to this venue four times now and it has steadily gone down hill. Considering the cost there are much better lakes. There were dead fish in the island and margins, there was line with hooks attached in the swim and several lines in the island where other anglers had been snagged. Frank doesn't seem to take much care in removing the snags more for the fishes protection as they must be swimming about with hooks in their mouths all the time.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Yes these comments above have no reflection to the service provided and I will defo use angling lines again
General Comments:
Lake could do with a little bit of re-stocking.

General Comments:
A beautiful, mature water with large well spaced swims and very large carp, cats and sturgeon. Carp to over 56lb and sturgeon to over 100lb were caught while I was there. Definitely one on my list for a return visit.
