Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
Yes, lovely looking lake with nice island feature. Would like to have the chance in future years to fish at villefond again with the knowledge I picked up from Marks Villefond rig.

Yes would highly recommend this venue to a dedicated carp angler.

Details of your catches:
We landed 26 fish biggest 41lb, 24lb8oz, 24lb04oz, 21lb and 22 fish around 2lb
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
Fish in Villefond are super clever, our best results came from single popped up corn using solid bags
Were the facilities what you expected?
Facilities are in need of a update, both charging stations in shed do not work (owner did take power pack home and charge for us) lighting need improving. Mobile home fridge and freezer not working needed battery's changing over all very basic. *Owner's note* Sadly, due to Villefond's rural positioning there is no electric at the lake. We make this clear on the website (and in this case also in an email to you prior to your trip). We are however always happy to take things to charge for you at the house. The solar powered charging facilities in the shed are merely an added 'extra' as their use is entirely dependent on how much sun we get and so we do not advertise these as a reliable source of power anywhere on the page. When told the Fridge was not working we checked and it had been turned off. Easily rectified at the time but we do apologise for the inconvenience.
Were you happy with them?
Food package very good, owners very good helping charge our power banks.
Would you recommend the venue to a friend?
I would only recommend this venue to anglers that are willing to row there baits out or have bait boats as swims need some TLC and casting to Margins impossible from bank in some of the swims. Also I highly recommend you book the venue exclusive as fish hold in deeper end of lake and only move up shallow end during night.
Would you recommend the services to a friend?
Angling lines was a great way to book our holiday so yes I would definitely recommend and use again my self.
General Comments:
Water level low due to lack if rain over the year at villefond so if you're fishing peg 7 and 8 you will need to wade out to land fish, peg 1,2 and 3 very uneven close to water be careful landing fish. There are some cracking fish in this lake but they do not move around lake in the day so if you are unlucky and have shallow end best advice I can give is sleep in the day and fish nights.

Details of your catches:
I caught absolutely nothing all week, had one run and lots of two or three knocks all week, I fished with two colleagues, one had a 41lb, 24lb, 20lb & about 5 x 10 pounders, the other colleague had 2 x 24lb & 20 x 10 to 15 pounders, they both had lots of runs no fish on the end.
Your best tactics/bait/rigs:
We all fished normal carp tatics, ie pinned to the bottom, critically balanced, & pop ups, small & large baits on size 8 wide gap hooks from 1mm pieces of fake sweet corn to 18mm boilies, all with very little result, all the fish caught were on small pieces of corn, Mark came round to see how we were getting on , he said you need to fish small hooks & the bait tight to the curve of the hook, he said they are very finicky, I tried all this with no results, very disappointed
Were the facilities what you expected?
We had the caravan for the week, very basic, fridge/freezer didn't work, smelt musty, toilet & shower usable, not cleaned all week, all the swims are badly maintained & not safe for senior anglers at night. On a brighter note Debbie, John & Mark very friendly & welcoming, the food that Debbie produced was fantastic.
Were you happy with them?
NO after watching all the videos & reading the blogs & reviews we expected a better result as we are not novice anglers

General Comments:
We travelled 350 miles to this lake, none of the swims are angler friendly especially at night, overall very disappointed. *Owner's note* We are so sorry that Villefond did not produce the holiday you expected. It is a hard lake as advertised and this was a particularly slow week, however 2 anglers on the lake the same week caught carp to 45lb and sturgeon to 60lb. Regarding the fridge/freezer, Andy notified us on Wednesday it wasn’t working, when checked the fridge had simply been turned to off, so we turned it back on. We clean the shower and toilet at the beginning of every stay but do expect anglers to leave the facilities as they find them during the week. We are unable to have electricity installed at Villefond as stated on the website, but we try to do our very best to charge anything, freeze any food or put cold foods in Fridge. We also offer ice packs and ice bags to keep at swims if required. We have 3 individual lights battery powered and spare batteries are left in the mobile home, also an automatic battery light that comes on when you go in. We have solar lights, but these rely on the sun. Regarding the swims not being user-friendly, this is unfortunately the first criticism we have had. We can see that on swims one and two, if you set your rods up to the left of the bush in the center of the swim then there are rocks that could be difficult to negotiate for people that aren’t sure footed, this is something we will work on over the winter period.
