There was a mobile home as expected!!

Were you happy with them?

To be honest no. Scruffy, not sufficiently reliable electricity and fridge. Overpriced for facilities.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Not particularly. Have to say John and Debbie did their utmost to be helpful and put problems right. They could not have done more. Acceptable for scruffy anglers but not couples. Although would have preferred to be left alone and not daily visits.

General Comments:

Relaxing holiday, just not quite there. Tricky fishing, did not fish some nights and some days, but the rewards are amazing. John said they had recently finished spawning, so happy to catch 21 fish, 7 being 40s

Fished Sat 21st July week. 40lb 2oz, 33lb, 26lb, 24lb 4oz, all Mirrors.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Listen to Mark for spots to fish to. Fished running leads with basic simple rigs. Arrived Saturday afternoon set-up & started fishing at first light on Sunday till midday Friday. I had my first fish at 1pm Sunday a 33lb Mirror followed by a 40lb 2oz just after midnight then a 24lb 4oz at 6.20am, brilliant start with 3 fish in the first 24 hours of fishing!! By midday Monday the temperature had started to rise dramatically to mid 30s, this just shut-off the fishing, followed by 3 more days of very hot weather so out came the float rod & roach & rudd fishing commenced. Some good sized roach & rudd were caught! I had several other runs during the week but the Carp out-smarted my rigs!! Lost a big Cat when my hook-link snapped after playing it for 40minutes…. or maybe the Cat playing me!! My last fish of 26lb came out on Thurs evening.

1 guy nothing, the other 3 fish including a 48, myself 1 carp at 41.5 and a cat at 74lb, both my pb.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

mostly pop-ups, also tried bottom baits and zig rig. various boilies and maize spodding with maize, pellets etc. various boilies. Given the size of the cat probably nowhere nr enough loose feed put in. fished through the night every night

yes, ideal for us managed to bbq everynigth except one.

depends on the friend, this seems to me to be more a big fish water than a runs water. probably better to catch a pb than lots of fish
