Details of your catches:

We had a super weeks fishing catching 61 fish for a total weight of 2009lbs. Top fish went to Del at 52lb ( sadly photo was awful - so not used). We noticed that over all the fish were much larger than last year and are already looking forward to returning next year as we had booked before we arrived this year.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

Fish well. Put in plenty of bait. We were all on different baits. We fished in 3 sets of 2 anglers. 2 sets used bait boats. Those in the far corner other side of the spit were using PVA bags. We all used blow back rigs. The water level dropped 3 feet whilst we were there and spit was well above water level.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, Returning from our trip last year it was good to see the kitchen had been upgraded along with the power upgrade. No more power trips when using the cooker. The extra fridge and large freezer are more than enough even for 8 anglers.

Were you happy with them?

Yes

General Comments:

A great lake and Bernard (owner) very welcoming. We went to his house after for coffee.

Details of your catches:

A good week considering the weather was low 20s in the day and minus 2 at night! All 6 of us caught so no blanks, we had carp as follows 16lb, 12x20lbers, 10x30lbers and 4x40lbers (biggest 44lb). 9 catfish between 11lb and 55lb. 10 grass carp between 12lb and 33lb. 2 bream. Most fish came from the lads on the south bank.

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

A mixture- Urban Bait nutcracker, Stickybaits Bloodworm and vortex mostly. Boilies tipped with yellow or fished snowman style picked up a lot of fish. Particles also worked but seemed to draw in the cats and grass carp. Spots baited regularly seemed to draw the fish back in when there was lulls in action.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes, as described and how people described in feedback.

Were you happy with them?

We were yes. However, I am not sure how I'd feel if we didn't have the lake exclusive as I wouldn't fancy a random person using the shower/toilet when I was in the adjacent kitchen cooking food.

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes without doubt, but maybe between May and September. We worked hard for our fish as it became clear they were still shoaled up, and the water level was high with the spit underwater (although the level dropped 2 feet whilst we were there).

Would you recommend the services to a friend?

Yes definitely. You were very helpful in the booking process and handled our personnel and vehicle changes straight away. Thankyou.

General Comments:

Great venue in a quiet, easy to find location with a decent supermarket nearby. The owner was a nice guy. Sadly, there was three dead carp in the margins whilst we were there, two that were quite decomposed and smelled bad that had clearly been there a while, and another that came up fresh the day we arrived, in the time we were there they were not buried so they might want to get them sorted out. Also, if I am being fussy, they should put some sort of screening in front of the bins. The bins are a good idea as it is better than rubbish everywhere, but a bit of screening so that they blended into the banks would improve the look of the fishery.

Details of your catches:

9 fish including four thirties to 34lb6oz

Your best tactics/bait/rigs:

We started very cautious with pva nets but didn't catch anything, but as the week went on we found that accurate feeding with around 100 boilies and a handful of pellet got us every fish. Although we had a selection of boilies being used all fish fell to 15mm Garlic and squid flavour.

Were the facilities what you expected?

Yes

Were you happy with them?

Yes perfectly addaquate for drive and survive although shower step is quite high it could pose a problem for older or less mobile anglers. 3 nice clean numbered fridges.

General Comments:

A very good place to fish, all fish were in mint condition, owner and family were very nice. All swims had clearly labelled bins with bin bags supplied so no excuse for litter to be left at pegs and also keeps night time visitors away. All in all a very good place to fish. Credit to Angling Lines also with the ease of booking a fishing trip and all relevant information supplied up to date to get you there and give you the best chance of cracking the venue.
