Accommodation

The modern lakeside accommodation sits just 30 metres across the lawn from the waters edge. Inside it has been beautifully designed to provide a very comfortable stay.

The living area is open plan, with a fully fitted kitchen, dining area and living room. It provides everything you need for the week, with a built-in oven and hob, kettle, toaster, microwave, fridge and freezer. Cutlery, pots, pans etc are all provided.

In the living area there is a UK satellite TV, coffee-table and two 3 seater leather settees.

Two twin bedrooms are each equipped with bedside cabinets and a wardrobe. You will find a shower room with a wc, wash hand basin and heated towel rail.

Bedding and tea towels are provided. Please note that you must bring your own bath towels.

There are electric heaters throughout for the cooler months. Wifi is also available in and around the property, phone signal is possible but not always the best due to rural location. The accommodation is connected to mains water, making the water safe to drink.

You can make use of the large flat lawned areas and an outside covered seating area behind the main swims. You are welcome to bring your own BBQ (gas preferred).

The owners Caroline and Ray live on site in a separate house close to the entrance. They are on hand to help if needed but will otherwise leave you to enjoy your holiday.

Please note that it is not possible to keep your rods out whilst sleeping in the accommodation at night. You would need to bivvy up if wishing to night fish so you can be closer to your rods.

Natural Swimming Pond

There is a second lake on the property which has been kept as a natural swimming pond, with a sand beach to one end. You are welcome to use this, it is an idyllic place for a spot of wild swimming and sun bathing.

There are also two kayaks you are welcome to use. Lifejackets are provided for children but adults must bring their own. Lifejackets must be worn if using the kayaks.

The Local Area

Manière is in the Charente region which is located in southwest France. It’s a land of forests and rolling hills, verdant vineyards, historic villages and waterways. It’s also one of the sunniest parts of France with around 25% more sunshine hours than the UK.

There is also a small shop in the local village (Oradour-Fanais) 4 minutes away.

Festivals

In the middle of August each year, Confolens hosts the International Folklore Festival, a week long event that attracts hundreds of performers and thousands of visitors.

Horse ride or trek in Vienne

Pony and carriage rides are available in Le Vigeant (14 km away), where you will walk through the heart of the valley of the Vienne.
