General Comments:

Swim 1 was a mandatory boat swim. This was NOT defined in the description. We were faced with a bank of weed surrounding the entire swim and lost every hooked fish in this weed. Unhappy to use the boat at night and so the swim was un-fishable. The venue is in need of maintenance to overall lake weed and snags in the margins. ** Angling Lines comment ** Swim 1 is not a mandatory boat swim but the boat is available to use if required. We have made the owner aware of your comments re weed and snags. He will be treating the weed in the winter so it should be improved for the next season. UPDATE Jan 2025, the owner confirms the weed has been treated this winter.

Details of your catches:

In total we caught about 35 carp. 43lb was the biggest, with a couple more 40's after that. We had a couple of 20lb'ers during the week but overall you knew they were going to be 30lb+. My friend broke his PB three times in a row! Fish were all in very good condition. Lost a lot of fish too.

We hired the electric engines for the boats, happy with the boats and engines. The dry toilets behind the swims were a really good addition. Happy with the main facilities block, but note that they're quite a long way from swims 3 and 4.

Were you happy with them?

Yes

Would you recommend the venue to a friend?

Yes. We would return tomorrow if we could.

General Comments:

Owner was very good and friendly. For larger carp you were required to take photos in the water. In general a really nice place. Supermarkets close by. Mats and tripods supplied were good, slings were a bit tired but ok.

General Comments:

The swims are lovely and big. Well spaced with plenty of water for each. Every swim has a picnic table which is a nice touch and they all have a row boat which is necessary. The lake itself is in a wild kind of setting and really feels natural. The down side of this is the water itself also has the associated weed and snags. During our visit the water levels were very high. This meant that what were once overhanging trees were actually horrific snags. Some trees stretching 10 metres or more into the lake meaning the carp just hold up in the margins where it is almost unfishable in places. Weed is also quite prolific. The rules mandate barbless hooks and for good reason as without them, there would probably be issues with tethered fish as the snags are savage! There were a couple of dead and rotting fish in the water but they were quickly removed by the bailiff once we pointed them out. Clement, the bailiff is certainly very knowledgeable about how to fish the lake and shares his tips if needed.
